Ferry at Lunar Park Quay by pugwashman The Ferries are excellent for getting around Sydney. They are quite cheap and you get superb views of the Sydney harbour Bridge, Opera House, Farm Cove, Circular Quay, Lunar Park and so much more. There are bigger ferries for longer trips such as Manly, and smaller ones for the Circular Quay tours. But be warned, they do get crowded, and you won't be the only person wanting to get a picture so get a decent spot early on. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

by cwest03 The Sydey Ferries are a great way to get around and a great way to see Sydney from a different angle. You can take the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly for $10.60 Australian and you get to see a great deal of the bay during this 30 minute trip. It's also a nice way to cool off on a hot day. Ain't life grand! by iandsmith There's lots of public transport around Sydney but, chances are you're here for the harbour. If that's the case, you'll be heading to Circular Quay, north of the CBD. Here you can catch a ferry to anywhere that ferries go. Here is a transport hub with an effervescent feel about it. Buskers, commuters and tourists all converge in this sea of sunlit faces by one of the world's great waterways. Personally, I can't blame them, I've done it myself on more than one occasion. Outside of guided tour (recommended) the next best option is the Manly ferry. Hop on one, get off at Manly, walk around Fairy Bower, chill out at one of the many cafes and restaurants.. Life doesn't get much better. SIghtseeing ferries leave Wharf 4 at 10 a.m. and 11.15 daily for a one hour cruise of the middle harbour and afternoon departures leave at 1 p.m. Mon-Fri and 1.30 p.m. on weekends for a two and a half hour cruise towards the east which includes seeing many of the palatial mansions of the Eastern Suburbs. See other ferries in my following tips. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

The ferry ticket we used to get to the Zoo. by Jerelis We stayed with relatives during our time in Sydney. When we asked them how to get to the city centre they had only one answer: Sydney Ferries’ famous Manly Ferry is a "must do" for any visitor. When we arrived at Manly Wharf we saw a brand new food and wine oasis at Manly Cove. We learned that ever since 1855 ferries have been sailing this route between Circular Quay and Manly. A ferriemakes the 30 minute trip regularly, day and night. During our trip to Circular Quay we found out what our relatives meant by their answer. The route is spectacular and we agree with the statement: "And today, no visit to Sydney is complete without an excursion to the seaside suburb of Manly." Leave a Comment

Sydney Harbour Bridge view from a ferry by 360dude You can catch a ferry across Sydney Harbour to visit the popular Taronga Zoo, but even the journey itself has so much to offer. On your way to the ferry you can come across some crazy street performers that do some of the strangest things but are really very entertaining. Just after leaving Circular Quay Wharves, the ferry goes in between the Opera House and Harbour Bridge for some really excellent views. If you're lucky, you can even get to see some magnificent old ships sailing by. Leave a Comment

Skyline with Manly Ferry by alfie92 The best way to explore Sydney is by ferry. This a cheap opportunity to cruise the spectacular Port Jackson, Sydney's natural harbour. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

Ferry to the Zoo by Sajt You can use almost every kind of transportation in Sydney and you have enough information to use maps and information tables. The only problem is the prices. For a guy from Hungary the prices are a little bit expensive. :( Ferries A scenic treat in any weather, ferries connect Sydney with places that can be reached more efficiently by water, such as Manly Beach. A JetCat, for example, can speed you between Circular Quay and Manly in 15 minutes. Particularly handy for visitors is the Rocket Shuttle ferry, which travels from Circular Quay to Darling Harbour and back every 15 minutes on weekends and holidays via the Star Casino. It's located beside Wharf 6, next to the Museum of Contemporary Art, Circular Quay.
