We departed after a brief photographic session and stopped en route to Yarrangobilly Caves at Coolamine Homestead, a rejuvenated collection of buildings dating from the late 19th century when this place was used for grazing, especially in summer. Newspaper clippings on one of the walls date back to 1892.
There’s even a cheese house that dates back to 1889; I guess keeping cheese cool up here wouldn’t be difficult for most of the year.

    Buddong Waterfalls, Australia
    4 more images

In order to reach the Buddong Waterfalls, you need a 4-wheel drive because the road is a dirt track and you have to drive for a few kilometres (about 1 hour) before reaching the entrance path of the waterfalls. From the entrance, you will need to walk about 15 minutes before reaching the top portion of the waterfalls (see photos). If you are more adventurous, the path will continue to the lower waterfalls and it will take about 1 hour going down.

The Buddong Waterfalls is within the Kosciusko National Park, which is a mountainous region consisting of the Snowy Mountains with some of the tallest mountains in mainland Australia. Mount Kosciusko, the tallest mountain in mainland Australia, is situated in this national park.

    Paddy's River Falls

Paddy's River Falls is just out of a small town called Tumbarumba. The falls are really pretty and it's a great place to spend some time relaxing, have a picnic or take some photos...

Tumbarumba is about 70 kms south of Tumut.

    Adelong Falls

Adelong is a fairly small town about 20 kms west of Tumut.

Just out of the town you will come across the Adelong Falls...gold was once mined there and you will see some old buildings and things from those days.
