    A goanna

We saw a huge goanna last time we were in Tumut...it was near the Blowering Dam... He ran across the road in front of us and straight up a tree. If you see a goanna in the wild, don't try to touch it, they can really hurt you with their big claws. Usually you can get close enough for a photo without too much trouble though.

While driving around the Tumut area watch out that you don't run over any wildlife. There are often animals crossing the roads and they can be dangerous to hit... Drive safely and both you and they will be happier for it. :)
