Zen X

Zen X is a Japanese restaurant that opened in 2003 in Wagga. The first Japanese restaurant in Wagga too!

The prices are fairly reasonable and the food is good. The restaurant has two small group rooms that you can book, a teppanyaki/sushi bar and the main restaurant area. You can also take in your own bottled wine or beer along.

Favorite Dish: I really enjoyed the Tori Karaage (kind of fried chicken) and the stir fried vegetables.

Also the Tepenyaki meal is great!!! We had a lot of fun trying to catch the food... I totally recomment you give it a go. When we went the lady said you can only choose between 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm so it is worth phoning ahead for details and bookings...although we requested a 7 pm start and that was fine.

Hog's Breath: Go with a very empty stomach!

The friendly staff at Hog's Breath Wagga make this Hog's Breath Cafe stand out from all the others! Nothing is too much trouble, and the genuine friendly attitude makes the experience well worth while.

Favorite Dish: The most memorable dish of the night was a shared desert. It was served in an oversized wine glass with ice cream, marshmallows and chocolate cake! Very fun, but be warned the desert is best shared between 3-6 people!

Thomasina's @ the Astor: Best Steak in Town
24kez profile photo
24kez 1 reviews

Thomasina's is a restaurant specialising in steaks but also has a lot of other choices, The steaks are cooked on a grill using only Mallee wood, Then they have on old iron (one that grandma used) , which is heated & placed on the steak to keep in the natural juices & also aids the cooking. The Best.

The Place itself is quite nice, not noisy at all, The salad & vegetable bar has a wide selection of dishes to choose from & they change all the time so you dont get the same thing each visit. The staff are the nicest , always happy, nothings too much trouble, so you leave happy. After all isn't that what dining out is suppose to be about. The Prices here are reasonable, up to $22. About $25 for Surf n Turf. And because it's a pub you only pay pub prices for drinks. Give it a go if you ever come to Wagga , You'll enjoy

Favorite Dish: Too many Favourites to choose from, The menu changes every 6 Months or so ,
So there putting another possible favourite on all the time.
But you can't go past the marinated Rib Eye.or the Pasta Carbonara,
It has more Meat & vege than Pasta, Just delish. The garlic Prawns are pretty good too.

Indian Tandori Restaurant

This restaurant has won many awards for it's food and service. The prices are pretty good and it is also BYO (bottled wines only though). It's a great place to eat with a bunch of friends or just as a couple... :)

If you order take-away you will get a discount of 10% if paying by cash.

Favorite Dish: Butter Chicken...yum!!!!

The Tolland does great meals and you can usually get a "2 for 1" docket making the meals very cheap. They have an outdoor area and a fairly big restaurant area.

Favorite Dish: Definitely the chicken breast with champagne sauce and avacado...YUM!!!!!!!!!!

Noodle Box

Noodle King opened in Wagga in early 2004. They have all sorts of noodles and some rices too & so far I have enjoyed every dish I have tried. :)

Open Sunday - Thursday 11:30 am to 9:30 pm and Friday - Saturday 11:30 am to 10:30 pm.

There is another noodle shop (Noodle Paradise) less than a block away but I don't think it is quite as good.

Favorite Dish: I love the Vegetarian Singapore Noodles...YUM!!!! :)

La Porchetta: More Italian

La Porchetta

La Porchetta is a chain restaurant with great food, prices and service... If you are in a hurry for any reason they usually are able to bring your meal out quicker too...as long as you ask...

The only down side is that you have to pay all on the one bill...they will not split the bill no matter how many times you ask. ;) Oh, and it can get quite noisy in the restaurant...sit outside if the weather is nice enough - it's much better!

Favorite Dish: Pizza...yum!

Jasmin Village Restaurant: Chinese

The Jasmin Village Restaurant is always a nice place to visit. Their take-away is good too. The restaurant is usually fairly quiet (noise wise - not people wise) and the food is great. They also do some fantastic banquets.

Favorite Dish: Hmmmm...maybe the chicken & cashews...

The Riv: The Riv

CandS 1676 reviews

The Riv is a pub next to the Bridge Steakhouse in Fitzmaurice Street. It is a fantastic place to go for lunch during the week - you'll get the amazing food from the Bridge but for much less. You'll have to sit in the pub though, but usually it's fairly quiet - except maybe Friday lunch times. Most meals are between A$5 and A$10...and the servings are huge!

Favorite Dish: Mmmmm...I LOVE the Bridge Burger...it's really good!!!!

Hogs Breath Cafe: Feel like a steak?
CandS profile photo

CandS 1676 reviews
Hogs Breath Cafe

The restaurant itself is very interesting...it has lots of old relics on the walls and ceiling plus TV's around the place with skits or action shots. The atmosphere is great in there...and the food and service is always good.

Hogs Breath is a chain restaurant which was started in Airlie Beach, Queensland and they have restaurants slowly opening all over Australia.

Hint: You can almost always get a dicount voucher on the back of receipts if you buy something at Big W or Coles, so if you need to do some shopping do it first if you need to and check your receipts. ;)

Favorite Dish: Hmmm...hard one...maybe the Nachos or Chicken Caesar Salad. (I am not really a steak eater)
