Favorite thing: The best swimming beach in Wollongong is the North beach in front of the Novotel hotel.
This is a very popular place to hang out in the summer months especially.
Fondest memory: The mountains and the sea....so close together.
The coastline views are excellent.

Favorite thing: Nan Tien buddhist temple is just on the outskirts of Wollongong.
Unfortunately the grounds were closed for the day when we were there so we couldn't get a good look at it.
It's quite a sight as you first see it from the highway, which is why I've included it as something to see.

Favorite thing: The Pagoda is of great spiritual importance to buddhists. Inside the Pagoda you can make a wish and sound the bell.
Fondest memory: We had great fun here too, posing in front of the Pagoda like this. The photo turned out quite well I think, and if I told you it was taken somewhere in Asia I could fool you!!

Fondest memory: Today we started our road trip and Wollongong was the first stop. It was the first time for me to drive on the wrong (left) side of the road. It was quite exciting but I was glad to be still alive. It was cool to stop at a place like the Nan Tien Temple, because it was so different. It was like being in China or something!!

Favorite thing: acknowledge the interesting juxtaposition of exquisite geographical beauty and the fading relics of heavy primary/secondary industry. Don't shun the industrial suburbs/precincts etc. for the rainforest, mountain/escarpment, beautiful extended beaches etc of the natural environment. Wollongong is the sum of these things. I have lived in Wollongong for the last 10 years and I believe there could be no better place to live.
