Morroccos was directly outside of our resort and it was a great place to party. You could go there for a meal and sit outside for some Alfresco Dining and then drink the night away and dance at the nightclub inside.
I really enjoyed this bar, pub, nightclub whichever you'd like to call it. The locals were really friendly and you meet some amazing people from all over the world here.
Dress Code: Anything goes really, we all dressed up in highheels etc... but you can really wear whatever is comfortable.

Magnums seems the best place in town to grab a beer after returning "back to Australia" - as all guides like to say - from the day's wanderings among the Whitsunday Islands. Also offering backpacker accommodation, Magnums has an outdoor bar with wooden tables. Great atmosphere, nice company, a pitcher of beer and chilled glasses. What more can you ask for?

Durng the day, this place is like a pub or bar on the main street. It gets fairly lively however at night, with live bands, plenty of dancing, and an assortment of different people of all ages.
Magnums also operate accomodation behind the pub. There are different types of accomodation to suit all types - there are tent sites, campervan sites, dorms, doubles and delux cabins. There are so many different rates. I suggest that you check www.magnums.com.au for the latest. This certainly is a very central place to stay.
Dress Code: no dress code. Just casual, shorts & t-shirt etc.

Mama Africa is one of about 3 clubs worth visiting late at night along the street. But the golden rule here is that you don't visit here until after 12am.... Or well that was how it was explained to me.
Mama Africa's gets busy after the Beaches bar across the road closes at 12pm.
With a dance tune playing the floor is fairly busy. The decor is very much African themed.
When I visited the other year the place was in need of a refresh. Well I've been told that it has been. All new couches and decor. That I'd love to see.
Dress Code: whatever is the rule in Airlie

The Juice Bar is the spot to hang out from 10pm to at least 1-2pm!!! The type of music played is some of the best club/dance mixes!!! The Juice Bar has a "chill out" room and the them of the club is sort of retro with water tanks (well they look like fish tanks minus the fish) around the walls separating the dance floor from the chill out room!!!
The Juice Bar has excellent airconditioning (which is a necessity in this weather) and it seems to keep up with the amount of people in the club. Unlike Mama Africa's the Juice Bar stays at a comfortable temperature all night regardless of the amount of patrons in there. Juice Bar seems to be a great place for the locals to hang out and catch up.
Very friendly Bar Staff also - and they are not that bad looking either!!!!
Check it out for yourself
Dress Code: Girls can getin dressed casually with rubber pluggers (or thongs) for shoes and really anything goes (if they want to wear high heels I guess thats ok).
Guys can wear dress shorts (from what I noticed) and I am not to sure about shoes. However again it appears most things go - neat casual.

Beaches bar is a great ourdoorsy beer garden along the main stretch.
It is attached to the Beaches Backpackers accommodation and therefore as a result closes at 12 midnight in order to allow the residents to sleep. Not that sleep is a high priority for those staying here.
The set up of the bar are long tables. So one can join a table and meet whoever. Many of the tables are often reserved for the boat trips returning that evening.
The meals here are very reasonably priced.
Dress Code: shoes are good. I think anything would be allowed. At least a singlet.

Magnums is the 'major' drinking venue for all in Airlie. Outside is the greatest mass sitting of outdoor long tables where anybody and everybody just takes a seat and starts to converse with all around. Nothing like just taking a seat and introducing yourself to whoever is across from you. Chances are they are also from out of town too.
Dress Code: The nightclub has a themed party every night. Monday nights being the most famous, a Foam Party. Other nights while I was there included a Pole Dancing Competition, a wet Tshirt competition, 70-80s nights.
Needless to say prizes are available for the competitions involving semi nudity. Contestants are also not always hard to find with so many backpackers travelling through.

I always find that backpacker bars and irish pubs have the best atmosphere and here you get a great combination of the two. A fairly small but lively irish pub. Not much else to say about it really. Go and see for yourself!
