Bowen boasts a very nice golf course. The 9 hole, 18 tee course is very popular with fairways that run along the foreshore of the beach. It offers spectacular views out over the ocean.
The club was established in the 1920's so it has been in existance for quite some time. I think the cost was about $15 for 18 holes.
The par 70 course has a length of 5836 metres.

The most popular mango in Australia comes from here...the Bowen mango.
And of course in keeping with our tradition of having these BIG THINGS....Bowen had it's Big Mango.
It's a tourist information place and you can't miss it. On the left just south of the town.

There are some twenty or so murals in and around Bowen. Painted by local artists they cover such topics as local government, founding families and industry. The murals are numbered and maps can be obtained from the information centre and library.
The mural pictured adorns the wall outside the Magees Supermarket and is in recognition of the contribution that the South Sea Island community has made to the Shire of Bowen.
A lot of South Seas people were taken from their homes in the Banks Group, Hebrides and Vanuatu Islands and transported to Australia to work in the suger cane.
