Bowen has a train station but unfortunately not all trains stop here so you need to check timetables. The train tends to be more expensive then the bus but the comfort factor is higher and there is always the dining car. All train services are non-smoking so you have to jump on and off at stations to get a nicotene fix. Sleepers are available for longer journeys but you need to book in advance and they can be very costly. There is an express service by tilt train from Brisbane to Rockhampton which is being extended to Cairns, but is still under construction
