Nice place with different atmospheres, ask for special jug (1.1 liter) of the day, dance floor + game's room upstairs, open air garden with friendly ambiance and often live music.
A safe place... bouncers are very efficient as usual, I even saw somebody (not me this time;-) to leave the pub without touching the floor...
Somebody inform me that the Vic sold its soul to VB? I immediatly check their website... But by chance their staff are still very efficient see picture 8-O...

The city has mostly cheesy teeny nightclubs, although one bar, the Down Under Bar, has quite a bit of atmosphere. It also has a backpacker's next to it, and only backpackers and students are allowed in....but maybe this has changed. The Valley is definately worth a try...the Beat, the press club (which can be a bit choosy about who they let in) and the a few others in the area are a good start. Rick's is a bar with nice alternative music and is always popular. You can pop next door for food at any time of day.
The Beat is a gay bar, and has a dance troupe at 11pm or so and another at 2am I think...they are great fun to watch (downstairs bar). Upstairs tends to be a bit more ABBA.

Friday's very popular among young people on Thursday nights (reason: cheap drinks for Uni students). Citirowers very popular on Saturday nights.
The beat is popular among the homosexual community. Several nightclubs in the valley are quite alternative. Some of them are also popular with the gay and lesbians. Viva has jazz and swing on Thursdays.

Cinema tickets are usually A$12 for adults, $7 for children and for those on an extremely tight budget (GO to the cinema ONLY on Tuesday evenings) = A$7. The Beat Nightclub, Fortitude Valley
It is a gay nightclub (I am not gay though!) and they play great music. It attracts both gays/lesbians/heterosexuals in equal numbers because of the great music, casual atmosphere and the fact that everyone is treated equally and there to have a good time.
