Family nightclub has become the most popular club in Brisbane. Brisbane has long been without a truly reputable club to compare with the scene in bigger Australian cities, but Family seems to have taken on this role with gusto. The build9ing is on Mclachlan St in Fortitude Valley, just off Brunswick St, a block or so from the Mall. It is a multi-level wharehouse style building, so you are gauranteed not to get bored. There is a cover charge after 9 or 10pm. The club generally attracts the dance crowd, but has a more style than some other establishments in the city. There are some excellent DJ's and you can check out the upcoming entertainment in the local street press or the website.
Dress Code: Aim for funky and stylish - the door staff will probably turn you away if you're not deemed cool enough.

My first taste of the infamous Family in the Valley was for a friends birthday.
Being from the Gold Coast we usually just head to Surfers for a night out, but after hearing so much about what The Valley had to offer us we could no longer resist. And what a good thing we didnt! As you enter the Family your are surrounded by warm colours and superb interior fittings. Everything is comfortable and sophisticaed. The music is 1st class quality on all 4/5 levels. It just depends on what type of Mood your in. We stayed down on the basement stage most of the night with the funky house beats, and not once were we bombarded by ranting raving young men like so many people in Surfers Paradise are subjected too. But every level is worth checking out, great bar staff on all floors and so much to look at/dance to/talk to you wont be leaving till the early hours every time you visit!
Dress Code: While waiting in line, we witnessed two nice young guys be dismissed from admittance because they were wearing buttoned/ collard shirts and slacks. So make sure you wear *casualise* your ensemble!

The Family is located in fortitude valley ("the Valley") and is the #1 location in not only brisbane but all over Australia. If you are a raver at heart this is your club, made of five levels, including a techno room, a trans room and a chill out bar which is completely made of ice. There are laways seats available, not that anyone ever leaves the dancefloor, but the club is open 9pm - 5am friday and saturdays night. Fridays for the hard core techno raver and saturdays for the more house techno type. If you love to party hard with many other friendly people in one all out legendary club, The Family is 4 U!
Dress Code: Very Strict Dress (Very Casual)
