Please bring photo ID with you as The Zoo is an over 18s location.
The Zoo has live bands (Magic Dirt often play here), pool tables and a bar.
Has a water fountain. :-)
Can get quite hot and stuffy, but you can leave the building and grab some fresh air on the footpath outside.
Dress Code:
I would imagine that you can really wear anything, as long as it's presentable. Most people don't tend to get too dressed up. Can get quite hot inside.
The Zoo is Brisbanes' most long standing live music venue/nightclub.
They accommodate to the more independent end of music fans. It's open Wednesdays to Saturdays, and some Sundays. In any week you could see anything from beats, hip hop, jazz, rock, and pop to acoustic, folk, dub and reggae.
The Zoo is an integral supporter of local and Australian talent, but international bands play here quite regularly also.
Dress Code:
There is pretty much no dress code, within reason.
The Zoo is Brisbane's most long standing live music venue. It is open Wednesday to Saturday and some Sunday's, and features live music from all parts of the spectrum. The Zoo showcases some serious international talent as well as touring Australian bands and lesser known local acts. The price of gigs is generally low and the size of the venue makes it a more intimate affair. Drinks are relatively expensive (especially water!!), but there's a decent range. Seating is limited, so if you want to sit bacck and chill out before the main bands get going, get there early. If you would like to avoid ringing ears the day after your night out, consider taking some ear plugs. Not the coolest accessory in the world, but it's very loud in The Zoo. All in all, a pretty tidy little music venue.
Dress Code:
Not strict - style really depends on what band is playing. Just be yourself!!
If you wanna catch a concert etc... Festival Hall (which is just a few streets away from the Queen Street Mall) will normally have something happening. You can check out local street mags for details. I would also highly recommend the Zoo in the Valley. Great atmosphere, great gigs etc.
Dress Code:
Both are casual.
THE ZOO
A great live independent music venue in the heart of the valley. Live shows most weekends and DJs on other nights. Ether is a regular Wednesday dance night - free admission, DJ and pool. Another fun dance event is held every night before a public holiday - it is called Flares, a 70s or 80s dance extravaganza.
