The woolshed: The Wool Shed
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Woolshed is a great place to go if you're interested in animals, and other aspects of Australian nature. The woolshed's ram show involves a live display of eight breeds of sheep, who make their way to the assigned position on the stage as the announcer explains what each breed is used for. There is also a demonstration of sheep shearing, a recreation of an outback sheep station, and a visit to an animal park with native Australian animals. The woolshed also has a cafe and dining hall, where you can sample some traditional Aussie food.

    The woolshed is located at:
    148 Samford Road
    Ferny Hills, Brisbane
    Queensland, Australia
    PO Box 329

This quiet little island can be accessed by a 5-10 minute ferry trip from Victoria Point. There is a small self-sufficient community of people who certainly have a relaxed life style. They can also claim that they live on a tropical island, which is pretty much the case.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary: Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
  • Tip Rating:
  • Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is great for getting close to all the Australian animals. Here you can cuddle a koala and hand feed kangaroos and emus. There are more than 130 koalas here but when you hold them, be prepared for the claws, they can dig in a bit.

The big Pineapple: The Big Pineapple
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Big Pineapple is Australia's number one tourist attraction. It was established in 1971, and the first sight of the plantation is a large 16m high fiberglass pineapple. You can go inside and learn more about Queensland Tropical Fruit industries and get great views of the Sunshine Coast from the top level. You can take a ride on a genuine sugar cane train through tropical fruit orchards and pineapple fields.

There is also a natural rainforest area and an area with Australian animals. Next door is the Macadamia Nut Farm which you can also tour through.
