General: When in Brisbane you will...
When in Brisbane you will invariably go to the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise. When you tire of the tourist tackiness, take a trip to Tamborine Mountain in what's called the Gold Coast Hinterland. You will find it by driving west out of Brisbane: find the Gold Coast highway and it will be signposted. There are three towns on the mountain; Eagle Heights, North Tamborine and Mount Tamborine. While there, be sure to visit Forest Cafe in North Tamborine: I can recommend the food there, and take a trail ride with Riders in Mount Tamborine.

General: Skin Diving at Moreton Island
Why not catch a fast ferry to Moreton Island. It's just 35 kilometres across the bay from Brisbane. Here you'll find the Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort. If you can stay the night you can hand feed the dolphins in the evening. There's also diving available on the Tangalooma artificial reef. It's not Barrier Reef quality but there's plenty of fish to see plus a small amount of coral and it's only 30 metres off the beach with very shallow water depths. Most of the wrecks making up the reef are exposed even at high water. If you're very, very lucky you may get to see and hand feed a wild turtle like the one in the photo. The Moreton Venture Ph: 3895 1000 and the Tangalooma Flyer Ph: 3268 6333 run to Tangalooma. The Moreton Venture is a vehicle ferry which leaves from Lytton 6 days a week and also travels to Reeders Point, while the Tangalooma Flyer leaves daily from Holt Street, Pinkenba.

You can walk among Kangaroos and other animals and feed some of them as well. You can also hold and take your picture with a koala.
