 | | | | Eumundi Markets: The biggest markets on the Sunshine Coast | Tip Rating: | | | | |
The Eumundi Market is the biggest on the Sunshine Coast and one of the biggest in Queensland. Any Saturday of the year around 10,000 locals, interstate and international tourists come to enjoy the atmosphere, the fun and of course the multitude of arts, crafts and produce on display, over 300 stalls of them in fact, as well as music and street theatre. It's a market for quiet, lazy browsing with wide aisles winding around shady trees and historic buildings. Take a break and enjoy some of the food on offer while listening to anything from electronic didgeridoos to traditional bush poetry. While the kids are having their faces painted you might want to take a look at the multitude of clothes, materials, pottery, paintings, glass bowls, hats, bush furniture, the list goes on and on, all handcrafted of course and many unique to the market. Perhaps it will be time for a massage or having your fortune told. This is a great way to spend a Saturday morning on the Sunshine Coast.
View artworks and sculptures by local artists. Taste home-made lemonade, freshly baked breads, locally grown produce and fresh seasonal fruit. Have your face painted, your palm read or indulge in a foot massage. When you need a break from the shopping there's plenty of local talent to keep you entertained. Listen to the diverse music of the electronic didgeridoo and bongo drums or traditional bush poetry and street theatre. | | | | Elizabeth Arcade: Cutting edge fashion, funky local designers | Tip Rating: | | | | |
This arcade located behind the Myer Centre in the city, contains about a dozen shops, including make up, clothing, shoes and jewellery. Celebrated local designs include Dogstar and Natalie Denning. Jet Star will provide you with rave gear. Boys and girls are catered for. As well, there is a cafe and about half a dozen asian eateries. You will find Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian and Korean just to name some. All at decent prices. If this doesn't tickle your fancy, Govinda's vegetarian is right next door.
Fashion forward designs in Dogstar, hip urban casuals in Dirtbox, beautiful delicate pieces in Natalie Denning and clothes made from every manmade material under the sun in Jet Star, quality artisan cosmetics at Napoleans.
Get out your big bucks. These shops are on par with your usual hip, urban brands such as Mooks or Fiorucci. $60-300 on average for clothes. The food however, is average, around $8-20 for a dish. Leave a Comment Theme: Women's ClothesAddress: Elizabeth Arcade, Elizabeth St, City
