New Farm Park, Brisbane
New Farm is situated on one of the bends in the Brisbane River, not far from Fortitude Valley and the City. It is an inner city suburb that has this amazing park on a peice of prime real estate. It is so fantastic. Any day of the week you will find people from all walks of life picnicing, barbecuing or kicking a ball around in the spacious park. A City Cat stop is situated right at the doorstep to the Park and is a magnificent way to travel this grassy haven. The rose gardens here are a real feature and are composed of so many different types of roses that I always lose count. No need to count anyways when you are too busy being confronted by their beautiful aroma.
New Farm itself is very cosmopilitan and was once referred to as "Little Sclily" due to the large Italian community here. There is a number of trendy restaurants and cafes in this district to wile away and afternoon at the park and an evening out in New Farm.
On the 2nd and 4th saturdays of every month the Farmers Markets at the PowerHouse New Farm park are held
Hours are 6am till mid day
If you want fresh fruit, veg, home made produce, jams, relishes, chutneys, bread, chocolate etc come here
Also available is meat, seafood (all types), wine, craft goods and so the list goes on.
To get a park get there early, or catch the city cat and get off at New Farm
Be warned, it's big and very busy

The city cat ferry stops here, and so do Buses.
The Park had a great adventure playground, which on a weekday, was teeming with children having lots of fun. A kiosk is next to the park where you can buy a drink and something to eat whilst sitting at one of the many benches watching the children play.
I was a bit early to see the Roses at their best. The big Rose garden was starting to flower, November onwards would be the best time to see them in bloom.
From New Farm Park at dusk, it is quite an experience watching the Flying Foxes wing their way towards you from across the Brisbane River. As the sun dips beneath the horizon, lights from the eastern suburbs flicker to life and yachts gently tug at their anchor lines as City Cats ferry commuters home.
Open daily and situated in the New Farm suburb, the park offers BBQ facilities, benches, parking, a children's playground and interesting flora. It has disability access and a City Cat stop.
