The Ginger Factory has not been located ON Buderim for many years. Now we have Woolworths...say no more. The beautiful view is replaced by a loading zone. Any ginger still grown on Buderim? Well someone I know has just a little but that is all.
Look on your map for Yandina and go there. Another 1/2 hour north on the Bruce Highway That is where Buderim Ginger is now located.
You will see signs on the Bruce Highway. You will pass ginger farms on the way. Templetons the best known..see his Dancing Studio sign.
Unique Suggestions: Well if you come to Buderim looking for Ginger do not go away empty handed. There is a small ginger shop just near the National Bank and Piccolo's cafe.
The products are factory direct and the pricing policy makes all the ginger exceptional value. This pleases both the tourist and the locals. You can buy some ice cream too.
I also found some Buderim post cards (where else I ask you) and Buderim souvenirs.
Fun Alternatives: Well it is actually a great little village to visit...just that the Ginger Factory has long gone.
Well we drove home from Brisbane and could not find anyway open on Buderim to buy something for 'tea' (I had expected to dine out).
Every where was closed. It was a public holiday...Queens Birthday long weekend.(Bank Holiday to some of you )
Usually there is a Fish Shop or a Pizza Hut or something. Dead as a doornail.
Guess all the cars and boats and caravans we saw on the motorway explained it all...well maybe the double time and a half wages for catering did not help either.
Fun Alternatives: Keep driving toward the sea and find Mooloolaba. Cafes along the Esplanade and further round at the Spit a fish and chip shop.
I do not know if the restaurants were opening or not...5pm too early. Not much all night stuff on the Sunshine Coast
