We came here on a day trip and were SO disapointed that we didn't have more time to spend. It is a fascinating place, built by 'The Spanish Dreamer' for his bride to be, and is full of history, hardship and romance. If you decide to visit, allow yourself at least a whole day...do NOT do a tour...they are too rushed and you will be dissapointed. it costs about $70 for a family pass.

The park covers 13 acres of rainforest beside Mena Creek Falls. It was the creation of Jose Paronella & officially opened in 1935.

I visited the park on an organised day trip from Cairns It was a delight to walk through the park with its thousands of plants & trees, trying to spot glimpses of the many varieties of wildlife that are found there.

The park also contains many concrete structures inspired by Moorish architecture, these have been damaged by the elements & are covered in vegetation. This just adds to the feeling that you are discovering a magical lost world.
