On Saturday and Wednesday mornings from very EARLY this sleepy little town gets taken over by a market - which is sprawling and so varied. I've been going to this market for decades, and its never declined in quality, and only expanded in size and range of goodies. The range of things for sale are second to none I have ever seen at a market - from fresh produce - fruit and vegetables, cheeses, dips, spicy sausages, yoghurts, cakes and bikkies, sauces galore, specialty sweet and savoury foods, coffees, handcrafted clothing and accessorites, leather and woodwork, tasteful Australiana, silverwear, jewellery, some furniture........etc. etc. There is also entertainment and plenty of on the spot food sources from temporary stalls and restaurants. There are now 2 ATM's in the market, and another in the Newsagent if you spend over your budget. I usually buy from the same few people, who I have been seeing for years - building collections - such as my beautiful boxes from John Tudehope (see pics). A perfect place to go Christmas shopping or just get into mooch mode and enjoy the sights. Across from the main market is a more minor market, which has some handcrafted items, but mostly Asian imported things - and a Vegetarian Krishna restaurant. Look for "big bum" on the road (pic) with his little spiel to entice you across the road! It can take a few years for people to get a stall allocation in this market, indicating the standard of merchandise and selectivity of the organisers. Simply a must-see if you visit the Sunshine Coast on either of these days. Address: Eumundi townDirections: Plenty of highway signage from both local and major highways.
