This was a surprising gem to find. The district's past can be rediscovered here and it was easy to spend a couple of hors wandering around.
Knockbreak Homestead a remnant of one of the first settlements is here, it's an old slab hut and there's lots of memorabilia from homes and farms of the 1880's.
The George Schaeffer Collection is a glass, gem and mineral collection and includes rare hand-made bottles. The collection was bequeathed to the town and are said to be " the fruits of a lifetime collecting rock and gem specimens".
You cannot drive through Eidsvold without checking out the bakery. Must be that Norwegian heritage which helps the bakery with the wonderful cakes and pies available.
