Roughly in the middle of Fraser Island. Park your car up and set off on the walk, which is hard work. The walk will take aroung 50 minutes to get there depending obviously on your pace.
Once you get there you will see what is only a small lake but on the one side it has huge sand dunes which are awesome for running down and juming straight in the wter. (Watch people fallover as they get close....classic!)
If you think that the sand dunes are big, you ghave to go to the top of the first dune and see what awaits you. There is mile and mile of open space, covered in sand. This is slightly different to the rest of the island. This looks like a minature Sahara desert or something.
In the lake are catfish, which will swim around you; if you are peeling from sunburn the fish will even come up and eat off bits of your skin. Weird.
Although the walk is long its well worth the effort to see this lake.

This lake is absolutly beautiful. Its a huge freshwater lake, surrounded by white sand. The water is really nice to have a dip in to get out of the heat. The water is fresh and drinkable and the sand when rubbed over silver jewellery cleans away all marks and makes the silver like brand new!
This is such a nice area to chill out for a bit but as with most things on Fraser Island the tide dictates where and when and forces you to leave.
You could speand a whole day just at this lake but you wont have time. It is a great place to stop for lunch as theres picnic tables around and changing rooms.
