Where as skipping the hikes might be more comfortable, you'll miss out on seeing things up closer.
During our 3 days on the island, we hiked through a small desert, a tropical rain forest, up and around some lakes and to and around the area called Central Station.
a good pair of hiking shoes/boots, water, sunscreen, towel, bathing suit (if you're hiking to a lake), backpack (for carrying everything), and camera.
