 | Gold Coast Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 79 | | If you find yourself wandering around near Marina Mirage and want a place to have a quick coffee or nice cup of tea then one of the more affordable options in the area is to pop into Diva Coffee & Tea House. Ok, it is nothing special, and probably caters mainly to tourists and the neighbouring boutique workers, but it did the trick when we needed an afternoon top-up.
Service was friendly and there was a decent smattering of people there on a mid-week afternoon. We just had a pot of tea and shared some treats - a florentine and a couple of cookies. A friend had suggested that Tedder Avenue was a great place to head for lunch as there are lots of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Well, they weren't wrong and we were spoilt for choice. We opted to eat at Aruba, as it looked nice enough, the food being delivered to the other diners looked good, and they had a nice table for four available. Service was smiley and some refreshing iced water was delivered with the menus. It was such a lovely sunny day that a couple of beers were in order as well.
We all opted for 'lunchy' types of meals. I had a very delicious Cajun chicken wrap which had all sorts of tasty fillings such as rocket and pumpkin. Also sampled was the Triple Decker sandwich, and the delicious Duck Salad which my Dad seemed pretty pleased about (see the photo). It was an enjoyable lunch at Aruba and we thought that the menu options were perfect for the warm Queensland weather. Mermaids is a café, bar and restaurant located right on the beachside in Burleigh Heads, on the Gold Coast. It is a relaxed but stylish looking place, serving up modern cuisine in a beautiful setting. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can pop in any time of the day for a coffee, a drink or something more substantial. Have lunch or dinner on the terrace overlooking the ocean for something a little special.
We popped into Mermaids mid-morning for a coffee and to catch up with family. We chose to sit in the small shaded outside area to the side. This is actually the perfect place to sit if you have kids as they can play in the sand right by the café and you can watch them whilst still enjoying a sand-free coffee. Service was friendly and the coffee was entirely drinkable. We also ordered some Hot Cross Buns and a delicious Choc Hazelnut muffin to accompany our drinks. For the absolute best chunk of dead cow in town, you have to go to Cav's. It is a Gold Coast icon but its reputation is fully deserved. You won't get a meal covered in sauce to disguise the fact their food is bad but you will get a perfect steak. Served with a homemade coleslaw and a baked potato with bacon sauce, it's all you need.
My favourite is the export quality rib eye, extra rare. There is nothing like hearing the steak moo when you put the fork in. It is expensive, about $26, but worth every penny. Billy Baxter’s is a chain of licenced cafés and restaurants with distinctive décor based on the cartoon character. The walls are covered in pictures of Billy drinking coffee in hilarious situations.
Long black coffee and blueberry muffin with fresh cream for AU$6.95. The coffee was great but I forgot to ask them to heat the muffin so it was served cold. You will be grandly treated with a mouthwatering 3 course Aussie BBQ meal while enjoying the sight and sounds of the Australian Outback Spectacular show. The first course is a tasty fresh Queensland Salad served with tangy mango dressing. The main course is a barbequed tenderloin beef steak with rich gravy, seasoned with Kakadu plum sauce and served with beans carrots and mashed spuds with baked Australian Damper. Desert is a traditional baked pavlova with Queensland berries and fresh cream and billy tea in a tin mug. Beer, wine and soft drinks are served with a smile by busy jilleroos and jackeroos throughout the show. Fair dinkum bonza tucker. I apologise for the quality of some of the photos but for the safety of the riders and horses, all video cameras and flash photography can't be used at any time.
The entire meal was superb but what was especially impressive was that some 1,000 meals were served almost at the same time. Hard working jilleroos and jackeroos walk in carrying 10 meals each at a time to feed their hungry waiting guests. The beef comes from grain fed cattle so vegetarians are well catered for ;~) Leave a Comment Theme: BarbecueAddress: Entertainment Road off Pacific HighwayPhone: 13 33 86Directions: Take the exit to Warner Bros. High up in Lamington National Park at O'Reilly's Guesthouse you can enjoy a meal with drinks with fabulous views over the valley at the Mountain Cafe and Gifts. So after exploring the forest paths around the Tree Top Walk come and refresh yourself here. They offer a delicious menu of homestyle meals with drinks and there is also a takeaway section for quick snacks. Once you order your meal at the counter you are given a pager which sends you an alert when your order is ready to be collected.
I enjoyed turkey and bacon on toasted focaccia (AU$7.50) with a long strong black coffee (AU$3.00). At least take a chair on the big outside balcony with a hot coffee or glass of wine and gaze at the magnificent views! Leave a Comment

Toscani's Cafe Bar & Restaurant Italian & Mediterranean Cuisine is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is centrally located in the Cavill Mall which is at the heart of Surfers Paradise.
The caramel swirl cheesecake was very rich but a perfect treat with a long, strong black coffee. Leave a Comment

Yummy House is a Hong Kong style establishment giving a wide variety of food styles from mainland China and its own unique style. While the general feel of the place is quite industrial, the tables and chairs are basic but well kept, the food is the true drawcard. From standard western Chinese meals thru to traditional Asian food, the menu is a delight for the tastebuds.
I really like the beef hot pot. Quality brisket beef is slow cooked with a tasty sauce and star anice to give a very Asian taste. It is a good dish if you want to try a real asian style dish. The Sunset Bar & Grill is a part of the Marina Mirage shopping complex near Mariners Cove Marina. It's right on the waterfront and a very relaxing spot to refresh yourself with a coffee and cake. The cafe is licensed so a cold beer or a nice glass of wine are other attractive options.
When I asked the waitress what type of muffins they had I was given the option of blueberry or "epple". I requested the blueberry muffin with my coffee. It was only when I sat down to wait for my order that I realised the waitress must have been a Kiwi and that on reflection an "apple" muffin did sound rather appetising.
