Chiangmai Thai in my opinion is the best Thai food outside of Thailand that I have tasted & indeed is better then some I have tasted in Thailand.
This restaurant has authentic artifacts throughout giving a real Thai feeling even down to Thai music piped into the restrooms.
Service is very good & prompt, a negative could be that on occassions some dishes come at the same time but for me not a concern.
Favorite Dish: My wife raves about the mixed seafood Tom Yum & I really like the BBQ Pork
We chose this restaurant because it was the first place I ever worked as a barmaid/waitress. It was way back in the early eighties when it was called the 'Manhattan' and was run by a drunken madman (we were all fond of him) who fed us champagne all day and taught us to salt the nuts to"make the punters drink more". Dreadful I know...but that was then...I was under age, so was grateful for the job. Anyway...I was curious to know what had become of the place.
I hardly recognised it at first, but once inside realised that except for the change in decor, the layout was basically the same. It was all very nostalgic...
Anyway...it was very clean and comfortable, the food was fabulous and the service great. You can choose to sit indoors or out. it was not very crowded, so I don't think you need to book in advance.
Favorite Dish: My favourite dish was the Penang Chicken...but it doesn't really count because that's always my favourite! They did do a great Basil stir fry.
In the style of your usual sushi train, this small local eatery does both sushi and Hong Kong style yum cha (dim sum). There are Japanese and Chinese chefs so the food is not compromised.
Favorite Dish: I'm a big sushi fan while my wife is more yum cha oriented. Her absolute fav is the pork and coriander dumplings while I'm a bit partial to the BBQ pork pastries!
The Buffet is really good value for money. A lunch buffet during the week will cost approx $22.50AUD & will include hot foods from around the world, soups, breads, cheese boards, salads, cold meats, roast meats and vegies, pastries, deserts, cakes, coffees & teas and soft drinks. Alcohol is extra. The weekends include seafoods so the price for the meal is higher. The environment is great and relaxing while the staff are friendly and efficient.
Favorite Dish: All of it!! :)
Toscani's Cafe Bar & Restaurant Italian & Mediterranean Cuisine is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
It is centrally located in the Cavill Mall which is at the heart of Surfers Paradise.
Favorite Dish: The caramel swirl cheesecake was very rich but a perfect treat with a long, strong black coffee.
Hard Rock Cafe Surfers Paradise has a great surfie feel as you walk in down stairs. There is a small shop there also and if you stand in the right spot there is a weird echo as you speak. It really freaked me out.
The actual restaurant is up stairs and it is jam packed with memorabilia. Truly is a great experience and I recommend you go there. Even if it's just for a drink.
Favorite Dish: I had a steak (how could I not!?) and was the juiciest I have tasted.
Hankering for some really yummy Mexican and don't mind a bit of a drive? Then make a booking at Panchos Mexican Restaurant.
Approximately 16kms from Surfers Paradise, you will surely have worked up a bit of a apetite by the time you get there. Pratically in the middle of 'nowhere', this little restaurant sits all by itself on the outskirts of the Hinterland.
With the best magheritas in town, this place is an absolute hit with all the locals and you can guarantee it will be busy every night of the week, so ensure you book in advance.
The ambience is so bright and colourful with everything 'mexican' imaginable hanging from the ceilings. With a basic seating style, lounge and bar this place is extremely cosy. Children are very welcome here and I ensure they will love coming here as much as you.
Favorite Dish: I never leave this place until I have myself a big belly full of magheritas, enchiladas and a plate full of their chocolate tacos/nachos.
With an extensive menu, prices are dirt cheap with main meals fetching around $12-$15AUD. And even if you have one of those 'not-so-mexican-lovers' in your family, Panchos also cooks a mean steak.
Keep in mind that meals are prepared fresh so they tend to take a little longer. If you are in a hurry please advise the waiter or waitress serving you so they can make sure you get your meals in speedy time.
Group bookings of 20 people or more get a special deal of two courses for only $15AUD!
Opening hours are as follows:
Thursday: Open from 5:30pm
Friday: Open from 5:30pm
Saturday: Open from 5:30pm
Sunday: Open from 12:00pm for lunch
NOTE! Be prepared and take cash with you, as credit cards and eftpos facilities are NOT available.
I'd rate Top-One as the best Yum Cha (Dim Sum) place in SE Queensland. It's better than what I've had in Sunnybank, Brisbane. Service is prompt and the waitresses take time to explain what's available, and maybe the odd "where are you from?" and "oh I'm cantonese too"s. You're not made to feel your table is needed in the next instance like in many other chinese restaurants. It is very unhurried which is what traditional Cantonese brunches ought to be.
They also do ala-carte lunches and dinners.
The view of the Broadwater from the restaurant is great.
Favorite Dish: Basically, most things are good though I haven't tried the offals and chickens legs as I am impartial to non-muscular meats.
I liked their freshly cooked egg tarts - my favorite; and meat dumplings (char siew pao)
I like steakhouse same as Korean BBQ and Japanese Teppanyaki.
This restaurant let you choose the meat. For example T-born, Wagyu, and so on.
Taxi driver told to me this restaurant is very popular in Gold Coast.
An award winnng restaurant.
Favorite Dish: I recommend Wagyu or T-born with garic butter and soy sause.
A favourite of my family for a while now is Kampung Malay. It is great for groups and celebrations. Always crowded and noisy. The food is excellent no matter what you order and service is always very friendly.
I don't know if it's authentic Malaysian but I would say their food is a cross between Chinese and Indian.
Takeaway is also available.
There is also a Kampung Malay in Mudgeeraba now.
Shop 16 & 17, 2 Bell Central, Mudgeeraba.
If you find yourself wandering around near Marina Mirage and want a place to have a quick coffee or nice cup of tea then one of the more affordable options in the area is to pop into Diva Coffee & Tea House.
Ok, it is nothing special, and probably caters mainly to tourists and the neighbouring boutique workers, but it did the trick when we needed an afternoon top-up.
Favorite Dish: Service was friendly and there was a decent smattering of people there on a mid-week afternoon.
We just had a pot of tea and shared some treats - a florentine and a couple of cookies.
A friend had suggested that Tedder Avenue was a great place to head for lunch as there are lots of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Well, they weren't wrong and we were spoilt for choice. We opted to eat at Aruba, as it looked nice enough, the food being delivered to the other diners looked good, and they had a nice table for four available.
Service was smiley and some refreshing iced water was delivered with the menus. It was such a lovely sunny day that a couple of beers were in order as well.
Favorite Dish: We all opted for 'lunchy' types of meals. I had a very delicious Cajun chicken wrap which had all sorts of tasty fillings such as rocket and pumpkin. Also sampled was the Triple Decker sandwich, and the delicious Duck Salad which my Dad seemed pretty pleased about (see the photo).
It was an enjoyable lunch at Aruba and we thought that the menu options were perfect for the warm Queensland weather.
Mermaids is a café, bar and restaurant located right on the beachside in Burleigh Heads, on the Gold Coast. It is a relaxed but stylish looking place, serving up modern cuisine in a beautiful setting.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can pop in any time of the day for a coffee, a drink or something more substantial. Have lunch or dinner on the terrace overlooking the ocean for something a little special.
Favorite Dish: We popped into Mermaids mid-morning for a coffee and to catch up with family. We chose to sit in the small shaded outside area to the side. This is actually the perfect place to sit if you have kids as they can play in the sand right by the café and you can watch them whilst still enjoying a sand-free coffee.
Service was friendly and the coffee was entirely drinkable. We also ordered some Hot Cross Buns and a delicious Choc Hazelnut muffin to accompany our drinks.
Sit down and order b4 6:30 and many restaurants offered 25% or 50% off all food. Mama Roma on broadbeach gave you a special menu if you sat down b4 6:30 and all the food was 1/2 price. Food was great too - but I saw alot of places offering early bird specials
Amazing food, great service and a beautiful setting. This restaurant continues to win best seafood restaurant for the Gold COast and Qld, and hosts celebrities from all around the globe.
Favorite Dish: Grilled snapper with lemon butter sauce... hmmmm
