Schoolies Week.: Watch out for spikers, it does happen, i am proof!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Hey, I went to schoolies 2003 on the gold coast week one of schoolies and had an awesome time except on my second night. I was having a few drinks in a surfers apartment..after that i don't remember much accept waking up a few hours later with tubes down my throat and nose in the gold coast hospital. My drink had been spiked with the drug fantasy..also known as the rape drug. The difference between this and other drugs is its a liquid. It had been poured into my drink earlier in th night. I had no recollection of the night but when i woke my best friend was waiting and crying. My heart stopped twice that night and i stopped breathing and had to be resucitated...my friends had to watch the ordeal. Imagine seeing your friend convulsing with their eyes lulling back and than hearing ambulance officers say quick she's not breathing, no pulse. I thought it wouldn't happen to me but it did...if i wasn't for the red frog brigade and my friends i would be dead. Drink safe and don't leave your friends...if you have been drinking with a mate and they seem a lot drunker than everyone else...this could be a warning sign...my friends wanted to put me to bed but luckily they didnt or else i would have died by myself in my hotel room while they continued to party! Have fun and please remember to be careful because the hotel i was originally drinking at reported a total of three rapes that night, i could have been one of them. Be a friend, its all i ask.

Schoolies Week.: Beware of the schoolies!!!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Schoolies Week - from mid November and into December the Gold Coast and particularly Surfers Paradise is a mass of school graduates. The main mall is filled with 17 year olds all hours of the day, and a morning walk on the beach will involve stepping over people passed out from last night's fun. If you're under 20 it can be a lot of fun, but if you don't want to share your holiday with a bunch of excited (and often drunk) school leavers, give it a miss that time of year. If you're going to be heading that way, go further down the coast to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.

  • Tip Rating:
  • Shark attacks occur rarely, but if you're heading to Surfer's Paradise in the middle of November - beware! It's schoolies week! Surfer's Paradise will be absolutely packed of 16-19 year old high school seniors who are there to party hard for a week after their graduation. I was there then, and it was great. But unless you fit into that category - go another time. I suppose it's like spring break in the U.S...

  • Tip Rating:
  • If you are over 21 you may want to avoid visiting in November. Schoolies week runs for almost 4 weeks and upwards of 20,000 school graduates diverge on the place. They drink too much and it all gets ugly LOL. Of course if you are under 21 Have a great time :-)))

    Schoolies Week.: Drunk School Kids
Schoolies Week in Gold Coast in Nov celebrates end of school. Couple thousand kids gather andat all cost. get drunk, fight, cause trouble, etc. Avoid at all cost. Last year a kid was bashed into a coma. Awhile back some kid drowned in the sea (swimming under the influence.)
