Airlie Beach on the Mainland is the central place for a Whitsunday holiday. It has a laid back atmosphere and the people are friendly.
It's a 40 minute ferry ride from Hamilton Island to Airlie Beach.
If you are looking for cheaper accommodation, Airlie Beach is your place to stay.

The Marina is in the front of the photo and Shorelines apartments to the left. Beach at the back of the photo is Catseye Beach

Favorite thing: Down by the marina just before the entry to the rental boats you will find on display charts of the Whitsundays Group. We found them very interesting as they gave us an overview of the group. Most important for anyone thinking of hiring a yacht for a few days.
