The last time we were in Hamilton Island we ate here. I was not impressed. The cost was way over the top and I only got a steak about the size of my open palm - no fingers.
Well, needless to say.... we bypassed Romanos and went up the road to the Manta Ray Cafe.....much better value for money!!

Hubby and I liked the Manta Ray Cafe on the Marina. The service is good, food reasonably priced and the views are to die for!! :o)
They make a wide range of meals and snax. I'm not a pizza lover, but actually enjoyed it here as the price was right and the pizza was quite light and palatable.
We came back again because we were impressed!... and I know you will be too :o)

The Marina Tavern is very popular indeed. Being constantly busy, it is advisable to book if you want a bite to eat.
We just ventured in for a few ales and enjoyed the view overlooking the marina while we sipped, relaxed, chatted & people watched. I recommend this place.

For that quick lunch, morning or afternoon tea or supplies for your room you cannot beat the backery. We had meat and salad rolls one lunchtime, walked across the road to shaded tables and sat watching the activity on the marina. A good alternative to always eating in restaurants.
Favorite Dish: Hot meat pies and salad rolls.

This establishment is the local pub and is located opposite the marina in a commanding position with a great view of the marina. The place was always busy during our visit, the outdoor area was very popular with large tables, sun during the day and a great place during the evening to enjoy a meal and view the marina and lights on the harbour. Inside the pub there is a dining area and plenty of bar space with large flat screen televisions.
We sat at the bar and people watched for some time, the meals coming from the kitchen looked good, particularly the extremely large steaks. We returned the next evening for dinner, however could not get a table and went elsewhere, I recommend you arrive early, secure a table and have a few drinks until you are ready to eat.

We had dinner twice at this popular cafe located on the waterfront overlooking the marina. There is a small bar with views over the marina where you can wait whilst they find a table.
The cafe specialises in seafood and pizza, however the extensive menu covers many othere cusines including Italian.
On our first visit we enjoyed some pizza slices for entree, followed by Red Emperor fillets for main course whilst Jill had the Lamb Shanks with garlic mash. Both meals were large serves and very nice, we returned several nights later and had the same main courses but reversed. With coffee our bill came to Au $70, which we thought was reasonable.
This is a popular restaurant and I recommend you book your table, otherwise expect a long wait at the bar.

This is a modern upmarket restaurant located on the first floor of a building which has magnificent views of the marina day and night. We dined late one evening and were lucky to get a table so I recommend you book earlier in the day. We were impressed with the decor of the restaurant , it has an open kitchen with the various steaks etc on display in refrigerated cabinets. I liked the display as you can select the steak you want, maybe thick, or less fat, large or small.
I had an excellent steak, cooked as I asked with a large bowl of steamed vegetables, Jill had a steak & seafood meal and we finished with Stickey Date Pudding and coffee for sweets. This would have been the best dinner we had on the island. Prices vary with the the various steak cuts from Au$28 for the steak I ordered with $40 being the most expensive. All up our meal cost Au$100.

We arrived on Hmailton Island with a bit of time to spare before our rooms was ready so we dumped our bags and headed to Toucan Tango for a coffee and snack. That's where this photo was taken. The restaurant has some fantastic tables out on the pool and beach side which get lots of sun (even in winter when we were there).
Toucan's does the lot when it comes to dining - open early for buffet breakfast, it's a niceer place to have brekky than the Cascades breakfast room at the Reef View hotel. They have coffees and cake etc. going all day, then lunches, happy hour and dinners. Usually in the evening aroun 8.30pm they also have entertainment, when we were there it was somebody on the grand piano.
Out the back end of the restaurant/bar there is a couple of pool tables too - so a pretty versatile place to pop into when the 'hunger pangs' get to you after a big day on the island!!
