There are various pathways around the island, which, apart from the hotel and facilities, is uninhabited. The hotel provides maps of the pathways, and there are routes of varying distance, the longest being about 8 kilometres, circumnavigating the island.
I took the 8k route and it was a good workout as most of the island is a fairly steep. There are some fantastic views of the ocean from up there and as the hotel only occupies a small part of the island, it feels pretty untouched and wild. On a hot sunny day, like the day I did my walk, it can be tough, so you must take a good supply of water with you, and advise the hotel that you are going.
This is the only activity that is free at this pricey hotel, and it is a great way of burning off some of the calories after some of the fantastic food that you can eat there!!
