The Boat Club.
Here is the social nerve centre of Hervey Bay. As well as being headquarters for every nautical sub set of boating ( sail, power, fishing, diving, dragon-boat, marina), this club caters for indoor bowlers, line dancers, pool players, gamblers, etc etc etc.
Your scribe has grey hair. I always feel welcome when I sign in as a visitor. I seem to be the same age as nearly everyone else. After all, the Hervey Bay district is a noted for the large numbers of retirees - attracted , no doubt, by the inexpensive property prices and the life style.
We recently visited the club looking for a mid morning coffee and were not disappointed.
The coffee shop has absolute water-front views.
There is a good range of hot and cold drinks at the right price...coffee for less than $4.00.
There is a range of cakes and light snacks such as sandwiches, rolls and wraps $3.50 - $6.50.
We ate dinner in the restaurant Sinbad's Bistro one evening. The club has a huge range of meals. Daily specials in the $8.00 - 10.00 range.
Plenty of parking across the street.
Club Courtesy Bus could be available...check the web site.
served by Public Transport (bus)
Favorite Dish: We have used the dining facilities at the Club during several of our visits by boat and on road trips.
Meals are typical pub/club fare. Good sized servings at reasonable prices.
If one is careful with choice, for example avoiding bread-crumbed or battered deep-fried meals, one can enjoy a better-than-average economical meal with the added advantage of a view of the traffic in the marina.
There are many options under $20.00 and some excellent sea food options and grills around $30.00.

Liliana's has a very good selection of great meals on offer. The staff are also quite friendly and helpful. This is one of very few places that offer a really great coffee and have some good cakes to go with if afternoon tea is on your mind. Quite pleasant surrounds as it is not in the rushed centre of Scarness, but still on the Esplanade. Overall a thumbs up.
Favorite Dish: The coffee of course! Plus the array of cakes.

What makes Hoolihans so nice is that it has everything for a relaxed evening. It has a fantastic menu - with loads of fish and even though they dont cut back on quantity, they dont skimp on quality either !! The atmosphere is friendly without being in your face - just loud enough to give it atmosphere without being deafening !!! Great place to meet the locals as well !!
Favorite Dish: To not have the Chili Prawns would be a MAJOR sin !!!!

A must try! If you are in Hervey Bay as a tourist, you must try the Wild Lotus Restaurant & Bar. I have eaten in a lot of different places all over Australia and the world and this ticks all the boxes. Happy with everything! Beautiful food, beautiful people, beautiful restaurant!
Favorite Dish: Oysters with toppers. The little nipper and the lotus were divine.

Very nicely presented restarant. Looks nice and clean and tidy. Very nice menu selections and all meals arrived perfect. We loved our dining experience here and would recommend it to everyone. Very friendly staff who were more than happy to help with everything. If you want a great meal for a good price, this is the place to go.
Oh yeah and did i mention the FREE MEAL on your birthday!!!! What an unexpected and very welcome surprise!!
Favorite Dish: Chicken avocado pasta - SOOOOO good. Creamy tasty pasta full of chicken, avocado, seeded mustard. I have had similar dishes before but this is the BEST! And it was huge. I couldn't even eat the whole dish but my hubby was happy to!

I'm a sucker for a bit of theatre when I dine out. Ambiance; the view; activity by the service staff and my fellow diners; music - all make for increasing the pleasure of a reasonably priced well-presented tasty meal. We struck pay-dirt so to speak with Café Balaena during a recent three night visit to Hervey Bay.
The absolute waterfront location overlooking the port activities of Great Sandy Straits Marina was enough to get us back for two dinners and lunch. We enjoyed the entertainment during the evening (solo guitarist/keyboard vocalists) and the food was well presented and tasty.
The menu is comprehensive covering breakfast as well as lunch diner and snacks and includes
Tapas and Advertisers; Wok and Pasta; Salads; Sandwiches; Burgers; Seafood ; substantial meals from Grill and daily specials from the blackboard.
Wine is available in bottle (average $30), glass and in small bottles (200ml) $6-9.
Prices are very reasonable and it is possible to find something to suit your budget. Mains all under $30 except for top echelon seafood.
Plenty of parking outside the Terminal Building.
Staff were friendly and attentive.
Favorite Dish: We enjoyed all of our meals which included seafood dishes and steak from the grill at diner and salads at lunchtime.
We will not hesitate to return on our next visit.

this cafe/restaurant served me someone else's steak - who had cut it and sent it back as it wasn't what was ordered. It was then transferred to my plate. 3 times my plate was sent back until the owner sent a young lacky to tell us that if we ate 70% of our dish we would have to pay for the meal. Owner was given our ph number but would not speak to us, nor rang us. Lost our custom there after 5 years bringing interstate clients on a weekly basis.

Blazing Saddles claim to serve the best Texas Steak, outside of Texas.. and I have to say that I agree.
Their steaks are some of the best I have had, and the place has a real country feel and look about it.
Decore includes cow hides, wagon wheels, and lots of other western artifacts.. and all decked out in real chunky timber. They often have live country music too.
Favorite Dish: The good 'ol Texas Steak.. ofcourse.. They also serve many other dishes, so there is lots to choose from.

Maddigans sells fantastic seafood very fresh and good prices. Ask for Flake which is shark. Oysters from here in the shell are very tasty and so are the mussels.
Favorite Dish: Prawns get king size and half a kilo really fills you up.

Maddigans is one of our best Fish & Chips shops. They have a large selection of seafood, as well as many other meals, including breakfast. The food is always prepared to perfection, and very fresh. This is fast food with a big difference.
Favorite Dish: All the seafood is excellent, and they also make a pretty fantastic hamburger.
