Fraser Magic 4WD Hire

Horrible experience with Fraser Magic 4WD hire!! The person booked me on the wrong date, lucky there was a cancellation on that day and they had a car for me! Then he told me that since he made a mistake he would only charge me $260 instead of the $460 quoted. Then when I returned the car he said he changed his mind and decided to charge me the full amount of $460!! Didn't even wait for me to get there to charge my card!

Car was very very old, but that was expected based on the price a paid ($460 for a full day hire including barge transfer and all permits, other companies will charge around $580, now I wished I had booked with them!).

Ok when in Hervey Bay the backpacker resorts will fight over your business including picking you up in a shuttle bus. Any time you need to go somewhere ask to use the bus. They will generally take you shopping and if you ask they may take you sightseeing. can save heaps of money buy not using Taxi's and utilising the shuttle service.

You can fly into Hervey Bay from Brisbane with QantasLink.. or come by Coach/Bus, ( Greyhound/McCafferty's ) which seems to be the preferred travel mode.
There is also a train, which stops at Maryborough, 35 kl away.. but then you would need to jump on a Bus for Hervey Bay..

In Hervey Bay, you can get by without a car, as there are buses, and if you are staying centrally, nothing is too far to walk to.
Also... Most of the Clubs have a courtesy bus, which pick up and drop off...

Though this wasn't the boat we went out on, it was pretty similar but a little smaller. The Tasman Venture 2 operated full day trips, about $85/person , lunch included
