Hervey Bay Marine Park was declared in 1989. It is zoned to conserve the natural resources of the tidal lands and waters of Hervey.
Humpback whales occur in the bay from 1 August to 30 November each year.
There are many boats going whale watching from Hervey Bay. I think you can book a tour at your accommodation.
We went whale watching with M.V. Mikat, and had a really good day in the bay. The M.V. Mikat is a 20 m ocean-going catamaran. We saw several humpback whales and some of them got really close to the boat.
Lunch is included in the tour. Only bad thing was the information video - we couldn't hear the sound.
Remember to bring: Sunscreen, camera and maybe medication for motion sickness.
It is whale watching season here in beautiful Hervey Bay. The weather is fantastic as we have the same climate as the caribbean. For around $50AUS you will be taken out on a large choice of whale watching boats and see the whales and hear them sing. Lunch is served and a video is taken of your cruise on some boats. Full day and half day cruises leave Urangan Marina daily and all the backpacker and hotels can arange bookings pick up is also available. It is a one in a life time experience and some companies guarantee whale sightings. there are hundreds of these beautiful creatures passing throught the warm waters of Hervey Bay. A new airport has opened here also now so it is a direct flight from Sydney or Brisbane to Hervey Bay and we are the fist leg of the Great Barrier Reef and Fraser Island is here also but that is another story.
Come DownUnder you will have a fantastic time.

Hoolihans has a friendly service, great food and a nice atmosphere. Choose from a wide range of both local and imported beers.
We went there a couple of times, and the only problem we had was the pub's closing time (to early).
