KURANDA NORTH QUEENSLAND
..Always when travelling in tropical northern Australia carry and use a strong and reliable mosquito repellant. Due to the recent heavy storms and rain periods with the cyclones this has increased the mosquito problem in the north.
Tropical areas are always breeding grounds for mosquitos and recently this problem seems to have increased with infections of Ross River fever, Dengue fever, and the most recent introduction into Australia of the deadly Encephylitis..These mosquito borne infections are all dangerous although the most recent infections of encephylitis are the most dangerous.
Always in the evenings wear loose fitting clothing with long sleeves and make sure that all exposed skin has a covering of a strong mosquito repellant..Don't forget your ears.!!!

If you are driving to Kuranda from Cairns please be careful of the road conditions.
This is a lovely drive, rainforest plants along side the roads and places to stop for photos. If you are driving keep your eyes on the road!!
The road heads up the range and has many curves, be patient and just go along at a leisurely speed, be careful if it is raining as road can be slippery and dangerous.
