Long Island has 20 kms of varied length scenic walking tracks in the National Park. Included in our day trip was a guided nature walk on part of the Whitsunday Circuit to look for turtles, and get a great elevated view towards Whitsunday Island. We also saw a few Brush Turkeys scratching around in the bush.

The pool is most inviting any time of the year, the tropical climate makes for year long swimming and on those extra hot days the bar is next to the pool. Plenty of sun shades protect you from the burning sun, a great place for anyone. After you swim there is the beach volleyball net 100 metres away, time for a family challenge.

Long Island Warnings and Dangers

Stinger season runs between the months of November & May, although stings have been reported all months of the year.
It is important during stinger season to rent or buy a lycra stinger suit. Not terribly attractive but much better than spoiling your holiday. A serious Box Jellyfish sting can kill a healthy adult within minutes.
If by chance you have been stung, most beaches provide a bottle of vinegar. Douse with the vinegar for 30 seconds and seek medical aid immediately.
