Colourful facade.

This interesting little shop caught my eye as I walked down Victoria street. There are lots of good gift ideas as well and knick knacks and decorative items for around the home.

What to buy: Vases, candles, photo frames etc.

This fashionable dress shop has some lovely, modern and exciting clothes.

I don't shop here often but when I do I always come out a winner!

What to buy: Womens clothes and accessories.

What to pay: Prices are comparable to other up market boutiques.

Mount Pleasant Shopping Centre is situated in Norh Mackay. Not as big as Canelands but less conjested. An escalator takes shoppers from the underground carpark up to the main shopping area. Numerous boutiques, eateries and speciality stores. Also K Mart, Coles and Woolworths.

What to buy: What ever! Clothes, books, cosmetics, shoes, liquor, homewares, flowers and jewellry etc.

City Heart: More shopping

No crouds! no tourists!

Another down town view of the City Heart. I recommend a cup of coffee at one of the alfresco cafes. Sit on the side walk and do a spot of 'people watching'. Then you can get up and shop some more.

What to buy: Clothes, jewellry, crafts etc.

The Mackay City Heart: Down town shopping

City Heart

The Mackay City Heart is the down town shopping area. It has been kept alive by careful planning and landscaping. The tropical atmosphere makes for a pleasant stroll around the many shops and arcades. Casual outdoor alfresco dining can also be enjoyed. Some of the buildings are brightly painted while others display a more heritage look. The Sunday Markets are held every second Sunday. Roads are closed off and there is live music and horse drawn carriage rides etc. as well as lots of craft and food stalls.

What to buy: Clothing boutiques, jewellery stores, shoe shops, pubs, gift shops, cafes..........just browse around and you'll find lots of interesting stores. Pictures coming soon.

What to pay: What ever you choose to spend.

Canelands

Canelands is one of two shopping centres in Mackay. With over 120 different speciality stores you should find what you are looking for. Post office, banks, Big W, Target and Woolworths and Action supermarkets. There is a large cafe court plus other more intimate eating places. Plenty of under cover parking. Open 6 days a week.

What to buy: Clothing stores and boutiques, homewares, jewellery stores, bakeries, shoe shops, travel agencies, hairdressers, newsagencies, music stores - just about everything. Pictures coming soon.

What to pay: What ever you choose to.
