MAN Fridays, Magnetic Island: Appaling and unacceptable customer service!

We recently had my Grandfather's 70th Birthday on
Magnetic Island, Townsville, Queensland. We booked on the Thursday
afternoon for dinner on the Friday Night for 35 people. When we
arrived at this outdoor dining place which has plastic chairs and
table not wooden ones like in this old photo we were not greeted by
the rude staff. We asked politely if we could get a chair put at one
of the tables and was told "We do have other people here tonight". The
manager kept coming out looking at what the children were doing
telling them rudely to stay seated at the table we were told they had
to be seated at a table away from their parents. The children were
very well behaved but he continued to speak rudely to them. Two of the
children's meals were missed and so them poor kids had to sit for over
half an hour for just some deep friend nuggets and chips while all the
other kids were eating. The food wasn't that great but I guess with
the treatment us as polite customers received I guess we should have
known. We did ask politely if we could have the bill split due to the
kids being separated from their parents but was rudely told we were to
work it out ourselves. On being given a copy of the bill we noticed
their were a lot more corkage fees then people who had brought their
own drinks. On questioned the manager became very abusive and told us
he had seen one child drinking softdrink so all the kids were drinking
it. This was not the case. When my brother asked why we should pay it
and how we have been all treated so poorly and rudely by the manager
and his staff he got very aggressive and told my Uncle to go out on
the footpath as it was his restaurant. When we got out he tried to get
my uncle to go into a dark corner where he wanted to fight him. What
kind of customer service does this place offer where the manager is
abusive, rude, violent and wanting to pick a fight. The manager
proceeded to tell us that how dare we question his charges as he
accommodated us when we rang 24hrs ahead. The manager then spat at my
brothers feet and got aggressive again. My Grandfather then went
forward and the Manager got abusive towards him and was wanting to
fight my 70 year old Grandfather. As we were leaving he told my Aunty
that if she left her car there he would do damage to it. I have never
seen such a lack of customer service but I guess as this is a small
island and there are limited places for people to eat out when over at
magnetic island this manager thinks he can treat his customers anyway
he wishes as he holds the monopoly. We travelled from Adelaide,
Melbourne, Brisbane, Moranbah, Pamona & Townsville for my Grandfathers
70th Birthday for a great weekend in which it was until we encountered
this Manager and his Staff. Word of mouth is a powerful thing and it
would be great to send a message to this Manager by stopping as many
people going to this outdoor rundown place to let him know you don't
treat your customers like this.

Pepper Blue is located in Nelly Bay at the marina. It's a new development which has just opened and is in early days. There is an excellent restaurant which overlooks the marina and water. If you are looking for something special or an intimate evening out then this restaurant would be the best on the island. Bookings advisable.

Man Friday: Best outdoor dining and steak on the island

This mexican/international cafe restaurant has a great casual feel with a delightful tropical dining setting.
There's plenty on offer if mexican's not your thing with a specials board and the steaks are the best I've ever eaten.
If you're still hungry there's also the desserts are delicious I had the cheese cake.
A great holiday dining experience with a friendly atmostphere

Favorite Dish: I had the steak with blue cheese sauce and onions.
It came with chips and salad. It was cooked to perfection medium rare.
My partner had the seafood fajitas, a good fun food which you got to roll up at the table.
