WIDE BAY TRANSIT is the name of the local Bus Company.
This company will get you around Maryborough and also to Hervey Bay.
The Company offers a "Hail'n' ride" service on routes 6 & 7 in Maryborough and the Kan-go fixed route in Hervey Bay. What this means, is you can get on and off the Bus between regular stops, quite handy! If your Hotel is enroute, then you could get off infront of your Hotel.
To catch a Bus, remember to put your hand out [hail the Bus driver] so he will stop and pick you up. Ring the Bell when you wish to alight.
IF YOU WISH TO GET OFF THE BUS BETWEEN STOPS, HEAD TO THE FRONT OF THE BUS BEFORE THE TIME, AND TELL THE DRIVER WHERE YOU WANT TO GET OFF. Exit at the front door.
Want to see more than Maryborough? The company does day tours, concert tours, short breaks and has holiday packages to choose from.

As we came by car, we need to find parking, and here in Maryborough, it wasn't a problem. There were plenty of proper car parks next to the main city centre. Parking in these were FREE, just make sure to check the sign to see what the hours are and how long your allowed to park, as some had a 2 hour limit, fine for us! Parking Inspector's do come around and check whether you have overstayed your time limit, and will leave a fine under your wiper blade.
Parking on the streets is free, times vary from 15 minute parking upwards, so there are plenty of options!
Maryborough is an Australian city that is Bicycle friendly. It was great to find Bicycle tracks around the city, making it much safer for cyclists. Another point - it's easy riding as Maryborough is all flat land. So next time you come here, think about getting around by Bicycle, a good way to explore the streets and see the old Queenslander homes.
The Tilt Train, also known as the fast train, stops in Maryborough daily, on it's usual route from Brisbane to Cairns, and back.
Maryborough has a good bus service running within the city, and to and from other parts of the State..
