Blue lagoon is a dazzling picturesque spot to enjoy on a hot summer’s day, take a cool a dip in the freshwater crystal clear waters of the lagoon surrounded by the white sandy pristine beach. This really is a MUST DO place to visit if staying at Moreton Island.
Blue Lagoon was formed through the natural catchments of rainwater over thousands of years when the water table meets the ground surface.
You also have the added bonus of having the ocean just a few minutes away if one feels later to get salty!

Camping is allowed on Moreton Island but you do need a permit. There are numerous sites available for camping and some are gorgeous places like the Blue Lagoon Camping Site which is located about 7km from Cape Cliff. It makes the perfect campsite as you have the freshwater lagoon to swim in and the beach directly behind you. There are toilets, drinking water and showers available but NO SHOPS.
The Wrecks Camping Ground is also fantastic located just near The Wrecks on the western side of the island. There are showers, toilets, drinking water, and a BBQ for cooking. The Ben ewa camping site is located close by and provides the same sort of facilities.
The Eagers Creek camping site is located in the eastern side of the island and provides facilities. Its approx 1km north of Middle Road exit.( Toilets, drinking water, showers. ) NO SHOPS.
The Comboyuro camping is positioned behind the dunes, just near the town of Bulwar on the western side of the island. Drinking water, showers and toilets are provided. This campsite is handy if you need to buy any essentials as a garage and shop are available for any provisions.

Hire a 4WD at the resort and drive around the island. (Fabulous experience) makes sure you see the Blue Lagoon, the wrecks, have a swim, drive along the beach to Kooringal, and have a beer in the local bush pub. (A MUST DO).
Moreton Island is a sand island with no sealed roads. A 4WD is the only suitable vehicle allowed.
All vehicles driving on Moreton Island require a service permit. The permit must be fixed to the windscreen of the vehicle at all times. Camping & Service Permits may be purchased from the Combie Trader Office. TEL NO 13 13 04.
Driving on the sand roads at times can be extremely difficult and you will probably get bogged once while trying to explore the island. However, its usually easy enough to free your car from. Pleas do take in this simple warnings.
Beach conditions change constantly, driving saftely and slowly is the way to go.
Travel close to low tide times, high tides often create huge problems.
Drive only on hard sand NOT soft sand.
Beach travel is not always possible, even at low tide check with resort first on driving conditions.
Keep to existing tracks, do NOT wander off them.
Driving on the dunes is prohibited.
Be careful crossing creeks, some may be deep.
If you hire a 4WD from the resort the car also comes with a radio, if you need any assistance.

This is an extraordinary experience for a family especially for children. The Dolphin feeding has to be pre booked between 1pm-5pm, the feeding starts at 7.00pm.
We found this to be rather touristy, as you had to line up with one small fish in hand whilst someone takes your photo. My suggestion is to take a seat on the pier; you do get a better view of the dolphins especially when they come into shore.
For those who have never seen dolphin’s wild then this is a great exceptional to study these brilliant creatures.

Moreton Island has a huge diversity of marine life from Cape Moreton lighthouse you can spot dolphins, whales (in season), manta rays, dugongs, turtles and numerous types of fish swimming in the sea. Not to mention the resident bottlenose dolphins that live permanently in Moreton Bay.
Also take a stroll along one of the long isolated beaches and you will spot numerous other fascinating marine life.

Moreton Island is absolutely a perfect place for snorkeling or scuba diving. The Tangalooma wrecks is one of the most famous spots, with endless reef fish species and delightful coral one could literally spend days discovering this rich marine bay.
