While at Moreton I was able to go sand toboganing. This is just as fun as it sounds! The semi desert oasis in the islands center is adorned with gigantic sand dunes reaching over 50 meters long and at an 80 degree angel you can jet pretty fast. The guides give you a rectangular piece of masonite and some wax to prep your makeshift board. While toboganing, the trick is to keep the nose of the board up while lying on your stomach head first. If you bring the nose of the plank down the you most likely eat ***, but it is all in good fun. I had a blast here and have never done anything like it. The guides also showed us a native python they had picked up and a spot where lightning struck and turned the sand into glass. Excellent!
From hill, where the lighthouse that is situated at the northers head of moreton island you can have an amazing view over a big part of the island and over the see. You have a big chance to see big turtles diving or wales swimming close to the shore.
