Nambour, Queensland.
You will find this quaint spot on your way to the swimming pool. Some trees and greenery line Petrie Creek making a nice place for a picnic. What I like are the steps and crossing over the creek...you are able to walk to the town side...and you are on the 'main drag'.
There is a playground on the town side of the creek and you are hidden behind some shops...a bottle shop no less (where in Australia you buy 'grog'...alcohol.)
Then another advantage you are close to the swimming pool and a large green oval...if you can use a large oval...
But there is more Just before you would cross Warana Bridge to go to the pool there is a walkway...Gary Evans walkway to enjoy as well...a place for a lover's tryst...what do you think of that?
Keep looking...you might se a platypus or a water dragon as you walk by the water.
"Petrie Creek is a tributary of Maroochy River. It starts the western side of Nambour, flows through the city, and then flows down to join the Maroochy River quite close to Eudlo Creek at Didillibah."...It has been known to flood. and cut off the main road through through town.

There is a first rate swimming pool in Nambour. Just behind the railway line as you drive north you will find the road leading to the pool. There are trees nearby and you can enjoy a picnic in the shade.
If you want to have lessons and improve your swimming fitness I have included a link to Swimfit.
Swimfit has classes in other centres as well including Cotton Tree.

If you are staying in Nambour it is very easy for you to drive up to Mapleton and enjoy the stunning views. There is a great little pub on the corner of Obi Obi Road and the Mapleton Flaxton Road...oh well it is actually called a' tavern' these days.
Meals are fine...and you can buy a Guinness if you have some Irish roots.
The tavern is open

The last Friday of the month signifies something special for Nambour - it's the Moonlight Markets. The markets which have been i place for a few years now have a great mix of arts and crafts for sale. While browsing you can tempt your taste buds with fare from many different countries - German, Spanish and Thai to name a few. There is also live entertainment. Each time I have been I have not had a camera with me.

The museum was opened on 20 April 1996. It is located in Mitchell Street and is only a short walk from the centre of town. It is housed in the former Nambour State School building.
Rooms in the building are dedicated to different home themes in history and other areas are set aside for the history of the Moreton Central Sugar Mill, the Nambour General Hospital and War Memories.

The Big Pineapple is a major tourist attraction near Nambour. There are rides, tours of the pineapple plantations, shops and restaurants.
The Big Pineapple is 16 metres high and the attraction features two rides, one on a Nut Mobile and the other on a small train.
Inside the main shop area you will find the obligatory souveniers and restaurants. I highly recommend that you try the Fruit Salad or Macadamia Nut parfaits.
