So when you are staying in the Noosa area what do you do?....where are the main attractions?
Well for goodness sake you look around the area where you are.....Forget about Australia Zoo....forget about Montville....The Big Pineapple (only just starting to wake up again!) save those places exciting and delightful as they may be until you have explored Noosa and surrounds.
Do you realize how far it is to drive to Caloundra (southern end of Sunshine Coast)? 47Km...and it will take at least 54 minutes!....and Australia Zoo even further. To Montville it is 55Km and an hours drive.....at least. Traffic around the Sunshine Coast is increasing....heaps of traffic lights along the Nicklin way to Caloundra....and the Bruce Highway can be very crowded with commuter traffic.
The Noosa region is just beautiful with the Everglades (Noosa River is gorgeous)...the stunning Noosa Main Beach right on your doorstep....Noosa National Park...'shop till you drop' Hastings Street....with Noosa Junction, Noosaville, and Tewantin close by.... Noosa Marina....and the stunning Noosa North Shore. Of course the magic Eumundi Markets are relatively close as well.
So plan your time well....the other places are worth a visit for sure but why spend your time on the road?
Fondest memory: Oh goodness this would be telling! Long ago when Noosa Heads was young I spent a wonderful holiday there....the lady had not become the stylish , cosmopolitan tourist mecca it is today.....yet you can still find some quiet and beautiful spots if you take the time to explore.
Favorite thing: We loved going to Noosa on holidays when I was growing up in Brissy. Our favourite places were Tewantin, Mooloolabah, Coolim and Tin Can Bay. Here is a map of the area that might help in your holiday plans.
The main street in Noosa is called Hastings Street...this is where you will find most of the shops, restaurants and cafes...and a lot of tourists... ;)
The beach is right beside Hastings Street so you can easily wander up for a cool drink or icecream while spending the day at the beach.
Tea Tree Bay is a little swimming beach in the National Park... It is probably less common than the main beach but it looked much nicer...
There are public toilets and drinking water available at Tea Tree Bay.
We went for a 2.5 hour hike around the Noosa National Park...it was a great walk!
We did the "Coastal Track", a distance of 5.4 kms return (we stopped for a lot of photos) and it's graded "easy". There are many other walks you can also do though.
The Noosa National Parkhas a picnic area with BBQ's, drinking water, car parking and public toilet facilities.
Favorite thing: I love the strange trees that we came across while on our walk...they look so funny! The photo doesn't show this tree the best but you can still see it a bit...
Favorite thing: What a great place to go for a walk!! It can get a bit steamy in the National Park in summer so take a bottle of water, you will dehydrate quickly...
Favorite thing: We came across this on our walk around the Noosa National Park... I'm not sure why but it has been named "Hell's Gate"...
Favorite thing: When we were there the beach had a lot of seaweed everywhere, but I'm told normally this is one of the best beaches around...
Favorite thing: We spent a bit of time looking amongst the rocks for shells etc but we didn't find much along the edge of the National Park...
Favorite thing: I loved the colour of the water so much along here that I couldn't help take lots of photos... :) It is such a nice colour!
Visit the Big Pineapple...it's not far out of Noosa on the way down to Brisbane.
Those are pineapple plants in the foreground... :)
