Nissarana Galleries: Fine Art to Inspire

    by wise23girl Updated Aug 8, 2013

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

A must when you holiday in Noosa, Queensland, Australia is a visit to Nissarana.

'Nissarana' nestled away in the tourist Mecca of Hasting Street is the signature gallery of the master photographer Philip Ayres

You will find exquisite landscapes of Australia seen in this evocative collection of Fine Art photography

As you step into this world of amazing fine art photography you will delight in the feeling of freedom from the outside hustle and bustle...for that is just what Nissarana means....having no bonds and is the experience the artist offers you with his beautiful creations.

You are free to wander around the gallery and view the exhibition or examine other photographic landscape pictures on offer in a serene and peaceful environment just meters from the iconic Noosa beaches. The staff are always available to show the listings and offer insight into the work of the artist.

Aboriginal art work and its rich cultural heritage is also presented for your enjoyment. Many of you will have heard of Jumba Jimba an indigenous artist whose work is also featured within the gallery.

What to buy: For sure you should take with you one of these beautiful photographs which will remind you forever of the real Australia. Maybe a little heavy for the suitcase but ...well you will manage... are the jelly fish in glass by a local artist....maybe use for a paper weight or just a beautiful decoration...I will need to ask the art consultant what these creations are called

    Eumundi Markets: Eumundi Markets

    by Holgs_in_Syd Updated Nov 22, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you're after local art and craft, your best bet is to head to Eumundi - a small town that's about 20mins inland of Noosa. Markets are held on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Saturday is the biggest and busiest day, but there are also shops that are worth a visit any day of the week. For more info - have a look at my Eumundi page!

What to pay: Less than in Noosa itself - but obviously depends what you buy!

Noosa Civic: Noosa's First Mini Mall

by Emphatic Written Apr 2, 2007

Noosa Civic was opened in late 2006 and it is host to an array of shops.
Built with plenty of space in mind, you can park easily (although navigating to an exit is difficult), and if you're lucky you can get a park under some shade.
Featured shops are: Big W (Department store); Woolworths (Groceries); Sanity Music for music and DVD's; plus shoe shops, jewellery shops, snack food shops, a newsagent, 3 coffee shops including Starbucks, and some clothing stores.

There are plenty of Auto Teller machines scattered inside and out of the mall, and if you really need to unwind, then head down the Bluefish bar and have a drink or two.

Although the Mini Mall concept was originally rejected (mainly by small business), it has been widely accepted by the community.

I wouldn't say that you could spend an entire day at the Civic, but you could waste away a few hours.

What to buy: Standard retail items.

What to pay: Nominal retail prices in Australia.
    AU$2-4 for a coffee
