Our favourite pastime at straddie is walking along the beaches. The work part of life just seems to drift off with the breeze. Best time is in the morning or evening, for obvious reasons, when its coolest. We prefer the am - and join the many locals and visitors for a stride along this glorious part of the coast. Watch the trawlers pull up and take off for a day of work, and the locals bring their tinnies down to the beach, taking off for their own catches. You might even see a local or a visitor standing on the beach with a fishing rod - doesn't seem to matter a lot whether there's any bites, the relaxation is in the setting!

Whales can be seen from a number of vantage points at Point Lookout. On the North Gorge Walk, excellent views are obtained from Norm’s Seat and above Whale Rock.
At the Frenchman’s Bay end of Timbin Road, elevated timber platforms have been provided, for views over Boat Rock and The Group rocks just offshore.
On their more leisurely return migration, whales can be seen in the waters between Shag Rock and the more distant Flat Rock. At these times Cylinder Headland and The Stradbroke Beach Hotel are excellent vantage points. At the hotel after a few rums you can begin to some some of the land based varieties!!!!

Point Lookout is the best place to see the ocean and enjoy the nature. From this point You have possibility for dolphin and whale watching, but You can only see the waves smashing to the rocks.
I took the photos from the rocks, near to the Point Lookout.

From the Island, if You are lucky, You could see dolphins and whales (from June to November). But if You want to see the whales much more closer, You can go to a cruise. You can read information about it on the website I mention below.
