    Festival of the sails

by ASTIEL Updated Mar 24, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

On Good Friday each year, Redcliffe's Suttons Beach celebrates the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race with a colourful beachside bash. Similar to a seaside carnival, Festival of Sails is a day of family fun. Activities include amusement rides, live music, quality art and craft market stalls, street entertainment, childrens beach activities and much more including a special guest appearance by the Easter Bunny.

Suttons Beach is the best vantage point to watch the early-action of Queenslands Premier Yacht Race.

Attracting over 10,000 visitors each year Redcliffes Festival of Sails is fast becoming a signature event for the city.

'When the bikes come to town'

by ASTIEL Written Feb 15, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Through out the year the pace way is fairly quiet, home to the Wednesday night trotts, BUT twice a year the old pace way is turned into a speedway. The bikes come to town. Tones of dirt is shipped in and the flat track is transformed into a high flying moter cross track.
