    Mission beach also has a local daily bus service which runs from Bingal Bay to Sth Mission Beach.

    Mission Beach is located approximately two hours drive south from Cairns and 3hrs north of Townsville. Dunk Island lies 4km off shore from beautiful Mission Beach . You cannot take your car over to Dunk Island, you must go by water taxi or ferry.

    The water taxi departs from Wongaling Beach, which is approx 10minutes drive south from Mission Beach. Tickets can be purchased at the water taxi office. The taxi departs the mainland at

    8.30am - 9.30am – 11.00am – 12.30pm – 2.30pm and 4pm. – (10mins ride).

    9.00am-10.am-12pm-2pm-3.30pm and 4.30pm

    OR

    Dowd's water taxis have about six daily services from Wongaling Beach to Dunk Island.
    When I was there return price was 22$.
    But ask at the hostels, they can sometimes get you discounts.
