Some fishing options in Queensland

by amandajayne81

This was a response to a forum question asking about possible options for a 3 week holiday in Australia for a keen angler. My fiance swears by Fraser Island in Queensland for the fishing. He goes fishing up there for a week once every year in about August September. The bonus of that is that it is within about 2-4 hours drive of the Sunshine Coast (Australia Zoo, Great beaches), Brisbane (Queenslands Capital) and the Gold Coast (lots of theme parks and once again great beaches.) It is even closer to Hervey Bay which is a nice place for a beach/relaxing break but don't expect surf at Hervey Bay.On a recent trip to Gladstone (about a 1 hour flight north of Brisbane) there were also lots of boats coming and going out to see. This maybe an option but it isn't really the most impressive holiday location if you are after beautiful beaches as well. This is a city that is very industrial.Other...

Liveaboard Dive Trips - Beware What You Pay!

by saracen

Diving on the Coral Sea - there is so much already written on various diving websites about just how fantastic the diving can be in this part of the world, and I don't think I can add to it other than to say that it has to be the best diving I have done in 10 years of diving around the world. The purpose of this tip though, is to warn others not to make the same mistake we made about booking it. We booked a week onboard a luxury liveaboard with Mike Ball diving. We booked online via the Mike Ball website well in advance. The cost was pretty high, but we were confident that the service on the boat and the quality of the diving would make it worth the cost. And, to an extent that proved to be true. What took the shine off it was when we were in Cairns, we saw many ticket agents offering exactly the same trip on the same boat for about half the price we paid.Once on board, we discovered...

Mike Ball - Dive Boat Cattle Truck

by garystaylor

Barrier Reef - Code Hole - Pixies Pinnacle - Steves Bommie etc etc.Dive trip with Mike Ball adventures was teriffic great food company and dive sites.Flight from Cairns up to Lizard Island was great it takes about 50 mins. The trip back from the last dive site to Cairns was in the dive boat. The boat was raced back over night to give the crew some time off before re-loading. The passengers were battered to heck being tossed around their cabins. Bottles were smashing, doors slamming, waves were crashing. I was holding onto the side of my bunk for dear life for at least 6 hours. I wouldn't have transported animals in those conditions! Mike Ball provides equipment - your own dive gear is always best.

Hockey for 2 year olds?

by unravelau

Tabletop hockey is open to all in the penny arcades (but it costs a dollar). My grandson thought it was great fun and wasn't too bad at it either. Bring your money in 1 dollar peices to get the best out of your visit ......... or rather exit from Ripley's Believe it or not.
