In the Stanthorpe area, it is Vineyards and Orchards you will see a lot of. The problem around here, is Stanthorpe often receives very bad storms with large, destructive hail. The nets are often damaged by the hail, but do help stop the force of it hitting the fruit.
The nets also stop the Fruit bats from coming in, protects the fruit from sun & wind damage, and helps prevent evaporation.
Once every two years (even years) on the first or second weekend in March is the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival. It attracts around 40 000 people to the festival which includes day and night activities lots of multicultural food and of course the local drops.
There is a parade at 2pm on the Saturday. My picture is a pretty ordinary one but further down the street it is just packed.
Great event to come and see if you are ever around at the right time.
