In Australia, Sugar cane farming is along the Queensland coast and just over the border into New South Wales. If you have never seen it growing, head to the Cairns area, and by the time you leave home, you will probably be sick of the sight of it. Why, because it grows tall and that is all you see for miles and miles when driving along the roads in the area where it's grown.DID YOU KNOW, QUEENSLAND GROWS 95% OF AUSTRALIA'S SUGAR CANESugar cane HARVESTING is between June and December each year, when the cane stands two to four metres high. The sugar cane is harvested by self-propelled harvesting machines. I find it quite interesting watching the huge harvesters do their work, and then the very long sugar cane Trains chuff, chuff, chuffing along to the Mill. You need to watch out at the level crossings at this time of the year, it's a very busy period.Something spectacular to see, that...

Oh me Oh my this was a bigger job than I thought....Almost finished but will keep updated. 2013There is something magic about an island holiday and in some ways the more remote the better....I am going into my memories, doing a bit of research, and using more recent visits to give you this composite review...in other words lots on 'info' in one place....do you like that idea?...And it might be 'willy nilly' in no particular order...an adventure for youMany of the Queensland Island are accessible from the mainland with connecting launch transfers or flights from major citiesSo I will start with my most exciting island holiday...North Keppel. SOUTH MORETON BAY TOURIST TRAIL- BRISBANE
by balhannah
Follow the DUGONG!...........The Brown tourist sign with the Dugong symbol on it.This is a 78km drive that I have done in whole and in parts many times, and is one that has a lot of variety. It is well signposted with Tourist signs, and is easy to follow. You can reach the Southern Moreton Bay Tourist Drive from Gateway Motorway in the north or Pacific Motorway in the south. This is a brief guide.......Coming from Brisbane, the 1st point of interest is the historical fort at Lytton, maybe your 1st stop, if not, perhaps a walk on the mangrove boardwalk in Wynnum.Manly, no, we are not in Sydney, but in Brisbane, and Manly is by the Ocean here too, it has a nice Marina, walks, Markets, and outdoor Cafes, popular on Sundays.Wellington Point is a favourite weekend picnic and fishing spot with its picturesque wooden jetty and playground. At low tide, you can walk from the shore across to King...
A Wine Trail In Somerset Valley.

This was my old 'stomping ground' at one time when I lived in ESK in the Brisbane Valley. Now with the changes in terrain following construction of massive dams in the area I had to do a bit of a rethink to follow this trail. You will discover Chardonnay, Verdelho, Voignier, and Sauvignon. Reds include Shiraz, Merlot, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon. So maybe you would like to begin in Kilcoy, 94 kilometres ...58 miles from Brisbane (an easy drive) along the Bruce Highway turning off on D'Aguilar Highway. Here you would visit Springdell Fruit WinesSales at Chantilly Blue Cafe25 Seib St, KilccoyPh +61 7 54220655Next head towards Winya Wines145 Sandy Creek Road via KilcoyPH +61 7 54971504Then over toWoongooroo Estate-Cellardoor and Cafe35 Doyles Road via KilcoyPh +61 7 54963529So now to little MT Mee...a quaint little spot.Oceanview Estates Winery and Vineyard awaits you.2557 Mt Mee Rd.Ocean...
VISIT ONE OF QUEENSLANDS WORLD HERITAGE AREAS
by balhannah
Did you know Queensland has five of Australia’s 14 World Heritage areas.I have been to four of them, and can definitely recommend paying a visit. Close to Brisbane is the largest area of sub-tropical rainforest in Southern Queensland, this area is known as the "Scenic Rim National Parks."Heading up the coast from Brisbane, we come to Fraser Island which can be assessed by Ferry or on a Tour. Fraser Island is the LARGEST SAND ISLAND IN THE WORLD, and has a mixture of sand, coastal heath, mangrove swamps, pristine freshwater lakes and subtropical rainforest. It is great for fishing and 4WDriving.Riversleigh Fossil Fields includes the beautiful Lawn Hill National Park in the remote north-west, this is one of the four most significant fossil sites in the world. The Wet Tropics range from Townsville to Cooktown, and comprise some of the world’s oldest rainforests including the Daintree...
Gamble at Our Casinos
by wise23girl
"If you want to leave a Casino with a small fortune...Go with a large one" ...source unknown to me.....Well there is more to our casinos in Queensland than just gambling. There is top class accommodation, plus great restaurants, and entertainment. We have gambled on poker(slot) machines in USA, England, Europe, other Australian States, New Zealand , and on cruise ships but ours in Qld are definitely the best. If you do not believe me go look for yourself! There are also games such as sic bo,roulette, and many others. The only problem is that Queenslandld still has machines that only accept $20 notes or smaller and that is a real hassle for the dedicated gambler .( this is by government regulation)Casinos remain open 24 hours a day 7 days a week except for Good Friday and Christmas day and ANZAC day when hours are restricted. When the rest of the town is asleep you can still find action at...
