I just had to update this section as it has changed so much!! Now a couple good places in Toowoomba have either closed or gone bad.. but luckily the previously not so good ones have picked up the slack. So, Fibber Mcgees is the big place to start, its always packed now, live music downstairs and more of a niteclub upstairs. They are also soon opening an Island Bar in the beer garden, set a little bit underground apparently. Should be very interesting and different to the front of the bar which is Irish themed.
After everyone fills up Fibbers, the crowd usually heads off down the street about 1am to Tombas. It only opened last year and at the moment is the only place open after 3am. It has a hot room and a cold room, ample dance space, a couple of bars and usually is packed and pumping by midnight. There is a cover charge though (it varies depending on what time you get there).
If your after something a little more laid back, there is Karaoke at the Shamrock and plenty of pool tables. The Tatts has just had a reno upstairs so is starting to pick up again, with live bands downstairs. There is also a new club opening soon where the old Cordy was before they gutted it (sob, sob).
Dress Code: Toowoomba in the last couple of years thinks its clubs are classy and and get funny about guys shoes, so no pluggers. The girls are dressing up more than they used to as well. If your underage, be careful, as all the clubs are within pretty much walking distance, they share security guards, so if you get kicked out one night and think you will just try another club the next, it wont work, take it from someone who has tried!
