It's the Whitsundays! if you aren't in a boat you're in the water. Go diving/snorkeling over a reef and make friends with the fishes.
Equipment: If you have a waterproof camera this is the place to use it, the fishes look out for the boats and crowd around the hull.

Diving the Great Barrier Reef was always a dream - and here it came true. One had the choice of three, a dive on your own, with a group and also in case one had not have a license, a dive to explore.
Diving here is like diving in a fish tank and the colourful corals and fishes are simply astonishing.
The reef that we visited was operated by FantaSea who have a great operation here.
Equipment: All equipmen is available on the reef platform

We were taken to Turtle bay, shown how to use snorkels and let loose in a small bay by the crew ,they kept a sharp eye on us at all times and even launched a small dingy to keep us all together. I took one of the floatation aids on offer to help free my hands up for some underwater photography. Amanda and Steff took to the water and shot off leaving me to enjoy my first dive, Steff has done this before and Amanda lives in Melbourne and like all Australians she probably does this every day. I had a great time, the hour spent in the water seemed like 5 minutes and i cant wait to do it again.

After the ceremony we headed for Turtle Bay to go snorkelling over some reef, there was a turtle about but i didnt get to see it. Because the turtles use the beach we weren`t allowed to set foot on it, very sensible. There were giant batfish and a host of others too, being from the UK we weren`t familiar with any of them but we enjoyed the sensation of swimming with them.

There are plenty of excursions from the harbour, we opted for a sunset cruise with Amanda and plenty of sparkling wine, as you can see the two mixed quite well.
