    Tipping not needed

Tipping in Adelaide is not required or expected at clubs, pubs, taxis or restaurants. People in the service industries receive a normal wage and are not dependant on tips. If you wish to tip, then tip up to the next whole dollar or just say keep the change. Tipping is considered a bonus for good service. Never tip anybody who asks for a tip.

    Tipping: Taxi drivers

I have had a few friends who drive taxis in Adelaide and a lot of them found it hard work and only really made money on the occasional tip.

Although tipping in Adelaide is not expected, I almost always tip taxi drivers. I normally either just let them keep change (if not a huge amount) or tip about a dollar or whatever falls out my coin purse (for a 5 or 6km journey). When I lived further out of town the I'd tip a few dollars.

Only a fool would tip in Australia. It is not required and not expected. Perhaps people in the tourist industry would act as though it is expected...but wages here are not calculated to take account of tipping as they would be in some countries.

It is not customary to tip in Australia.
If you do want to tip no offence will be taken but some businesses may not allow there staff to accept so please don't be offended if it refused.

Instead of tipping some people will get a bill for around $17 and will give a $20 note and say keep the change.

Adelaide is a multicultural society and as such there are no particular rules of behaviour - just be friendly and polite. Tipping is not required or expected but if you have received especially good service feel free to reward with whatever amount you feel is appropriate.

People are generally friendly and helpful. No need to tip. Restaurants are generally of very good standard and are very reasonably priced. Highest restaurant per capita in Australia- many and varied to choose from.

Tipping is not obligatory and there are no extra service charges at hotels and restaurants. For special service, a tip of 10% is acceptable for waiters. At any time, tipping is your choice.
