Clothing: Clothing and what to wear
  • Tip Rating:
  • While SA continues the Australian theme of casualness in its dress habits, it does boast a fine sense of style. A better quality of clothing can be found amongst its residents. Again, dress for the season. In summer the weather can suddenly turn cool, so a jacket of some sort is essential. In winter you need to dress accordingly, especially to protect against the wind.

Boots during the winter, open toed can be used for summer where the it can hit up to 40'.

    Clothing: In general..here it goes..
  • Tip Rating:
  • Personal perferences. No doubt on that.

    Clothings:
I was there during the winter season in July.It is definitely much colder than Perth. I was ....freeezing! Bring an extra jacket for sure. Not forgetting wollen socks.
As for shoes: check out my foot album.

Moisturiser creams is a must.I;m sure you wouldn't want to walk around with flaky skin.Share it with your loved ones, husbands, boy/girlfriends....
An essentila first aid kit may come on handy.

Not forgetting the "Slip slap slop" on your sunscreen during summer and winter as well. The UV level is rather high in Australia.

Just like to add on........Credit Cards
  • Tip Rating:
  • For those Western Australians holding Bankwest ATM cards. Bad news......there is no Bankwests in Adelaide. Very often, Commonweath Bank of Australia and National Banks are the common ones.If not, just bring a Credit card and ample cash along.

    Clothing: Weather Changes
  • Tip Rating:
  • Always be aware that Adelaides weather can change really fast. When my inlaws were here from the UK, they were amazed that one day it could be 40C and the next could be 20C. Always have a jumper handy, as the weather can be really changable, especially near the coast or in the hills.

  • Tip Rating:
  • The Botanical gardens in Adelaide are beautiful, especially during Autumn, so much open space and statuettes.

    Clothing: Packing List
  • Tip Rating:
  • Anything from a backpack up should do you fine, depending on how much you want to pack.

You probably only need an umbrella. If you get electric shocks a lot, try to avoid synthetic clothing because Adelaide is very dry.

Sunscreen - 30+!! Otherwise, pretty much everything is there. You have to ask for paracetamol over the counter though.

Lots of sunscreen. If you are hiking or camping in the bush, take long pants, a long sleeved shirt and sensible shoes, even if it is hot. If camping in desert areas, take warm clothes for the night - even in summer it gets very cold.

    Sun protection: Packing List
  • Tip Rating:
  • Don't pack anything in vegetable or banana boxes!

Good sunglasses have 100 % UV and glare protection. (From AUD 35 in big stores.) The rays also come from above and from the sides. I've never experienced such a bright sunlight anywhere else I've travelled so far.

Foot bath powder. Kidney and Bladder strengthening herbal tea when you have your first dehydration. After sunburn cream.

You are not allowed to bring food into Australia. Shoes and bike tyres have to be cleaned.

    Sun protection: Personal Items
During the allergy season, the Adelaide Plains has a quite high pollen count level. The projected pollen count will be given on the nightly news report during the allergy season (spring/ summer)

Mozzie repellant if you're going anywhere near the rivers or the mangroves. During summer at dusk, if you aren't protected, they'll carry you away.
30+ suncream is a must for anyone due to the harsh and powerful sun, especially during summer. The local news forecasts will give nightly reports on expected UV ratings for the next day.

    Clothing: August in Adelaide
A real chill in the air; some rain showers. Bring a warm jacket, beanie and scarf and warm shoes. An umbrella will be helpful too.

Make sure you pack your camera if you intend on visiting Monarto Zoo.
